Brentford vs Crystal Palace match thread

And it works in major competitions with competent referees. So Howard Webb. Why are you appointing incompetent numpties?
Its definitely only as good as the officials operating it. Currently it is useless as, because of their ineptitude, it doesn't work as it does in major tournaments. What is the answer? Scrapping it or bringing in competent officials from abroad?

Why not the automated offside? That's a question we should be asking. We have people drawing lines to suit whatever they like.

Troy Deeney selecting Adam Wharton for his Team Of the Week:

Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace): Not only does he score, he dictates play. However, that back-flip celebration was a bit weird. It felt like a 'thank you for everything, I am leaving' moment.

Would he have said that about a player from any other club?

That guy is so annoying. Even if he does leave, he said some time ago that he would do a backflip when he scored. 🙄

Why does it work ok in major tournaments but not in our domestic league? That's another question we should definitely be asking. The technology exists elsewhere.

My main take from this game, apart from our continued vulnerability from set pieces, was the quailty of Wharton's first time passing from both feet.
There are times this season when his passing has been sloppy, but when he gets it right (as v Brentford) it sets the tone for our whole performance.
A range of correctly weighted passes either to feet or into space.
It's why we looked far more of an attacking threat for much of the game.
