If he does come, hopefully that's the reason, but there is an argument that Bournemouth's squad is better than ours. There is an increasingly strong possibility they could be playing Champion's League football next season, or at least Europa, so I would ask what it is that we are offering that they are not? We have a much bigger ground, and we're not in Bournemouth, which I suppose are two pluses.
Maybe Bournemouth are at a stage in their 3 year cycle where they cant spend any money next year (no new players - only outgoings, to keep in with PSR - shades of Nuno at Wolves) & we are in the first year of a new one, hence being able to buy JSL & BJ ?

Not to Man City it isn't. They mask it all with loans and ridiculous sponsorship deals from their airline.

I very much doubt Iraola will end up at Palace. You have to ask, why is he leaving Bournemouth after all the success he has had? Moving to Palace isn't that much of a step up and we lose our best players the same way Bournemouth do. I expect he is looking for a club with Champions League potential and not a selling club. There is a chance Parish can persuade him, it would would be a bigger coup, than him getting control of the club.
Not much of a step up ?
So when was the last time Bournemouth won the FA Cup, the Charity Shield and got to the final of one of the three multi league European Cup Finals ?

You could also ask the question - What would he have to do to be seen as a success at Palace, OG winning 2, possibly 3 trophies in 2 years would be a tough act for anyone to follow -

No not really. Glasner achieved our cup success and Iraola has got Bournemouth into Europe via their League position. Glasner is a cup specialist, that doesn't make Palace a step up from Bournemouth.

If he wants to stay in the Premier league and doesn't want to stay at Bournemouth there are not many options, Chelsea is not a choice a sane man would take, Fulham no, the ideal on would probably be Newcastle, but they seem as if they are going to stick with Howe, maybe the show of spending big in the last summer was a show for Iraola.

The BBC with some specific inside information. Palace are looking at many candidates...😱

"In addition to Iraola, it is understood that Coventry manager Frank Lampard, Ipswich's Kieran McKenna, former Tottenham boss Thomas Frank, ex-Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche, Fulham's Marco Silva and Lens' Pierre Sage are among the candidates Palace have explored."

any more ? 😀

Of course it does. Bournemouth are a much smaller club than Palace who have few fans and (without a billionaire propping them up) very limited resources. Plus they have spent the majority of their history in the third and forth tier of English football. Wigan are a bigger club than Bournemouth. They have won an FA cup. Bournemouth have won nothing. Dont get me wrong, I dont have an issue with them and will admit to even willing them on when they play the bigger clubs.
This all said, of course Palace is a step up from Bournemouth and a big one. We may not be top 6 but theres only 6 teams in the country that are!

Uncle Tom Cobley, and all!!

Maybe unlike some other managers he doesn’t have an inflated opinion of his own ability, and sees us as a good bet to continue his upward path for a few years, rather than taking a punt at somewhere like Man U. We’ve seen plenty crash and burn there.
what upward path? Bournemouth could be in the Champions League next season

From "very attracted" to "very willing" to "not ruling out" in a few sentences. Still, at least it's not a no.

Until he turns up and sees his new portacabin office and Sainsbury’s own rugged toilet roll in the bog……..after spending so much in January we’ve had to economise explains SP🤣

Iraola was my preferred candidate when this thread was created, but the way his stock has risen since then makes him unrealistic now.

The only reasons he isn't already snubbing Palace are (firstly) that he's still actually being paid to manage Bournemouth and will not want to appear as if his mind is elsewhere, and (secondly) to flush out other interested clubs.

This isn't going to happen. The most we can offer him is the least he would get from any serious suitor, many of whom will offer far more in terms of level and squad strength etc. He is as hot a property as he's ever going to be at the moment, and so is approaching a very significant junction in his career. He will get opportunities this summer that he will know he may never get again. And I don't mean managing Palace, unfortunately.
