I agree with your central point about aspiration and having ambition, but nonetheless I have found this season not particularly enjoyable in terms of flat performances - which I think are partly attributable to the Thursday/Sunday cycle of games.
You only have to look at our results and performances after our European fixtures.
I may be alone in this , but I can't (and never could) get excited about our participation in the Conference, where in fact we've reserved time for some of our most inept performances.
With a more limited fixture and less testing schedule there's no reason why we couldn't have been pushing for top 6 like Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford have been doing.
There's an argument that this is more aspirational and more of a feat than trying to win a Micky Mouse competition against second rate European teams where we were made favourites before a ball was kicked.
I accept there is a counter argument that many clubs would swap positions with us in terms of a probable chance of winning a European competition.
I just don't find it particularly persuasive when I look at what , in my view, has been a poor season from us.
