The Donald Trump thread

They are probably all in mourning that the gunman failed....otherwise they would be out dancing in the streets like they did when they got Charlie Kirk.

like Obi Wan Kinobe, Trump will be stronger after a Martyrdom than he even is today.

But i reckon the old Lizard will die quietly of old age, not that far off. Its been fun watching another madman in the Oval office. Oh so many....Reagan, JFK, Tricky Dickey (my favourite one, totally nuts but also clever and charismatic - with genuine working class credentials unlike most Democrats )

Well, I'm not a 'left wing zealot' but I deplore killing people just because they have different politics.

Would that include you condemning the murder of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei by the US/Israel?
The killing of leaders in war is allowed under the Geneva Conventions.

Any chance at all of the left wing zealots on here actually condemning assassination attempts on people whose politics they happen to disagree with?
What/who is a left wing zealot?

Maybe Trump, or any Republican for that matter, could condemn the current gun laws in the US as clearly if it was more difficult to get a gun there would be less gun attacks.

Only last week a dad killed all 7 of his children and his estranged or ex wife. An absolutely appalling crime that barely got a mention by US politicians.

What was the US reaction to them bombing an Iranian school a few weeks ago killing over 100 young kids? Initially Trump claimed it didn't happen.

You need to get a life

These performative demands for 'condemnation' are one of the strangest norms on here. Why exactly would someone on a Crystal Palace forum need to publicly denounce some American nutter attempting an assassination?

And if that’s now the standard, at least be consistent with it. Did all the anti-Muslim posters on here issue statements condemning the bloke who raped a Sikh woman because he assumed she was Muslim? I don’t think they needed to, but if you’re going to start demanding ritual condemnations from others, we have to be consistent.

What really sits underneath these posts is some weird fantasy that people on here secretly support rape or murder unless they formally say otherwise.

It's just shallow virtue signalling - trying to claim moral superiority by pretending your opponents are extremists until they recite the approved line.

So let's get that right.....You think the leader of the GOP, the party that believes in their constitution's second amendment right to gun ownership to condemn the current gun laws.....which are as strict as the individual states want them?

The US public when polled want to keep the right to guns.

No taxation without representation.

It's their country, their laws.

European countries have similar laws to the US....The Swiss I think.

It's less about the gun laws and more about the culture.

Again, this is for the US population to decide.

This is something I agree with you on.

It reminded me of the Reagan era and the attitude displayed by Reagan after their ship shot down an Iranian civilian airliner......It was disgraceful and very very wrong.

The US quietly paid reparations afterwards.....but the attitude in public was just too chest out and 'we can't do no wrong'.....as innocent civilian bodies were floating in the drink.

The West should hold itself to higher standards.

Na, I reckon they will get him....or at least more attempts.

The crazies on the left have been whipped up over years by the Democrats and their media and there is a hell of a lot of deranged degenerates that have taken it hook line and sinker.

The progressives and the noserings will dance in the street, while the rest of them will just stay quiet while smiling.

But when it happens to their side, you'll hear screaming and screeching and suddenly it'll all be about the morality of it.

Then you'll be expected to condemn it, even though they stayed silent or celebrated.

Indeed, In Switzerland the people were always required to be the military and hence have high powered weapons. I wouldn't say there have been no shootings but it is basically none when compared to the US. About fifty percent of the population have an automatic weapon. Often a military rifle. Goes to show how society and culture influences that.

Indeed. I believe that those of conscription age are required to have a gun in their home. It means in an emergency call up they can show armed and ready.

The other thing about conscription in Switzerland is that your work career is tied to your army career. I worked with a guy who was a VP in our bank and a Major in the Swiss army. They are both entwined. Screw around with the army and you will not be promoted in your civilian job.

Living next to the Germans it is understandable. 😉

Delivering his first monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live! after the shooting, the comedian said

"It was not by any stretch of the definition a call to assassination and they know that, I've been very vocal for many years speaking out against gun violence in particular," he added.

"I agree that hateful and violent rhetoric is something we should reject, I think a great place to start to dial that back is having a conversation with your husband about it."
Check.

"Police increased security yesterday at selected government buildings across Switzerland after 14 local government politicians and officials were killed in the country's worst shooting bloodbath." (Sept 2001)
I think the Swiss generally have better Regulation and it is a much smaller population than the USA to manage. Plus , Switzerland is just a lovely place of lakes and mountains. But you're still going to get nutters, just probably not as many
