We thumped Liverpool 3 times in 12 months. Now watching our mediocrity at Anfield yesterday. Gets me thinking, remember 'when we were Kings at the Palace'
Olise, Eze, Guehi etc etc........even Zaha. The economics of their Provenance was fantastic.

It was hurtful seeing those Worldies leaving Selhurst to ply their trade at the top tier of World football....and many of us were p1.ssed off at what little money we got in recompense. Well, we will probably not be having much of that problem again ?

I am reluctant to blame some of our new signings, running up and down the pitch, they are only doing their best - and they really want success. And also Glasner, he is only doing his best (talk about him on the other thread please). But if we sign another two or three big-money 'long honeymoon, slow starters, struggling to adjust to the new regime' we will be toast by Christmas.

At least we won’t be the first English team to win a European trophy and end up getting relegated, Forest ended up in division 3 eventually 🤣
Also Man. U, Villa and Spurs have managed this badge of honour 🤣

Correct. We win more Silverware and give it 5 minutes until the money-giants swoop in and take our best players....again.

Football is all about money. Dougie was an Elon Musk/Ingvar Kamprad type genius. He never paid over the odds and always got lucky. It now feels like we are buying second hand cars from Arthur Daly/Del Boy/Tony Soprano.

Frankly, Eze and Olise were relatively obvious buys. And we should go back to buying the best championship players.
The reasons for this are: cheaper (although not cheap), lower wages, but the main reason is how competitive the Championship is and how physically demanding it is. Because of that, Championship players who are standing out should be able to handle the rigours of the Premier League.
I'm loathe to buy other Premier League team's cast offs. There's the obvious reason: why are they selling? There's usually some issue. Look at Isak for example and our own Johnson. Or they're selling them because they're failing. Make your own minds up who that is.
The exception I would make is relegation sides' best players. Particularly ones with release clauses. We should be onto that like a flash.
First thing to do though is renew Sarr. I haven't heard anything about that. Without him we'd be f***ed. He's more or less our only real goal threat for most of the season. If the club can't see that then they're more stupid than any of us are currently imagining. Which is we're looking pretty foolish for our recent buys.

Blimey they’re expensive old second hand cars, good job we’re not buying new 😳🤣

We sell our best players and then pay a similar amount on dross replacements. Where’s the sense in that? We might just as well keep our best players in the first place.
I know it’s not that simple, but looking at our January signings I fear the worst for next season.
