Immigration

If you take the number of apparently gay Iraqi and Afghan men seeking asylum as a mean average, then there are more gay men then straight in these countries. It is odd. It’s even odder when they are found to have a wife and 10 children in their homeland. It’s one of the mysteries of the universe.
Can you blame them for seeking asylum if they were to stay thei r attachments would become unattached ,you make a very good case for asylum. The best argument for immigration and asylum ever well done.👍

Whilst shocking this is really no surprise. When loopholes exist in an inefficient system there will always be some ready to exploit them. All this does is demonstrate how badly we are handling visa applications.

Not just in accepting fraudulent applications of this type, but refusing perfectly legitimate ones. I know someone whose wife, who acquired British citizenship many years ago, sponsored her sister to visit her. She was paying all the costs, and providing the flight tickets back and forth. No cost to us at all, in fact a gain to our economy. A simple UK visitor visa was applied for, substantial fees paid, documentation produced and biometrics taken. It was refused on the basis they weren’t satisfied her sister wouldn’t overstay. She has her own family to return to and an offer was made to deposit a security guarantee. An appeal isn’t available and she was warned another application would also be refused.

My understanding is, which others here may have better information on than me, that many of the applications these days are actually made by algorithms flagging up red lines, with little human involvement.

If true, with the reported statistics of the level of asylum claims that succeed because of potential mistreatment in the home countries coming hugely disproportionately from a small number of sources, this ought to be easy to identify and stop. No matter how elaborate the deception.
This is indeed a big issue. The decent people who are telling the truth don't get visas easily. The clearly false people do. The system is being gamed and it will require willpower from our great leaders to stop the abuse of the system.
It's this kind of thing that is going on in all areas of life. Again, try getting any welfare if you are genuine. Constant barriers.
Liars and cheats - easily get everything and aren't prosecuted or don't even really exist when trying to get anything back.
We need someone with a bit of backbone to change our systems - I don't see that will, strength or any desire to change anything.
I particularly see these immigration advisors as mainly fraudulent - which presumably helps them make money.
This is another part of the immigration gravy train that needs to be stopped.

Shown to be lies - even by the BBC, however. Anybody lying on an application needs to be removed immediately with no compensation or payments. Should be removed during the interview in as underhand an approach as they themselves use.

The firms providing these services must be regulated surely?

I believe they are not. And solicitors are regulated by the Law Society. Which is just themselves watching themselves. I believe anyone can set themselves up as an immigration advisor. Gravy train would be an English Language school with attached immigration advisors. I bet a few people have thought of that already. Maybe I'll do it here. I'm sick of everyone else making money and if no one's going to stop anything - if you can't beat them, join them.

This is not new, it has been going on for years, Jamaican nationals use this on a regular basis, due to attitude towards Gay people in Jamaica. Here’s a thought, when they bleat about reparations and when Lammy agrees with them, how about bringing their anti- gay attitude into the discussion?

Unfortunately, the visa issuing process has been “going down hill” for many years. Most applications are considered on papers in the UK, rather than by Visa Officers who have local knowledge. The same goes for the appellate authorities who overturn Visa Officer decisions without a scooby.
You say legitimate ones, however many who have not used fraudulent methods to achieve a visa, would still not qualify, due to many possible circumstances. I do agree that the honest ones are more likely to be refused than the dishonest ones.

They will say an agent filled the application form in for them, despite them having signed it. Any one arriving with a genuine visa has an in country right of appeal ( even if lied on application). We all know the chances of them being removed, ECHR !

What would you have said if this had been discussed on GB News? 🤔
This wasn’t a discussion. This was investigative journalism at its best. Something that the BBC do well, helped by the fact they can publish the results on their popular website. I don’t recall GB News doing anything similar, but I don’t use their website. If they had though I would expect ii to be widely reported so I think I would know and would have no problem in praising the work as proper journalism.

Hands up anyone who believes this. (By the way, I see that it is now reported by the BBC that immigrants also fake domestic abuse - who'd have thought.)

The first indentured slaves to the sugar Plantations, of the Caribbean, were Irish Prisoners of War from Oliver Cromwell. The irish need to be at the front of the queue for reparations. On the grounds that we were sold into Slavery BY THE BRITISH STATE. Not by privateers buying the slaves. And not by local tribal leaders from West Africa - capturing people and selling them. Those local Tribes did sell people into slavery....so they should foot the first part of the reparations bill. There are some very wealthy houses in Mauritania - old family coin ?

Later on, it was the British State & William Wilberforce who campaigned to end slavery. In spite of much resistance from African businessmen.

I didn’t think Cromwell took prisoners.

Migrants are making false domestic abuse allegations to stay in the UK, BBC investigation finds Migrants are making false domestic abuse allegations to stay in the UK, BBC investigation finds
Something else that has been going on for years. What pisses me off, even more than the abuse of the system, is that those that are actual victims of domestic abuse ( and I have interviewed several) are lumped together with the system abusers and therefore not necessarily believed

Why you can trust Sky News
Police have warned protesters after saying they are unable to identify suspects who raped a woman outside a church in Surrey due to a lack of information.

The victim, in her 20s, says she was followed after leaving Labyrinth Epsom nightclub on Saturday.

The attack is believed to have happened between 2am and 4am outside a church on Ashley Road.

But Surrey Police said it does not have enough information to release descriptions of the suspects.

On Wednesday, footage shared on social media showed a large crowd of protesters congregated in the town centre following the incident.

Dozens of officers could be seen wearing helmets and holding shields, as objects appeared to be thrown at them.

The protest had been promoted online by Danny Tommo, a former associate of right-wing activist Tommy Robinson.

The group also blocked the road, which caused disruption to motorists, before leaving the scene at about 8pm.

Chief Superintendent Mark Chapman said: "There was a significant police presence in Epsom town centre to support the group's right to lawful protest and minimise disruption to the local community.

"I appreciate that this may have caused concern to people in the town centre, and I would like to reassure you that our priority was to ensure the safety of the wider public, as well as the safety of those involved in the protest.

"I also appreciate that there was some disruption in the town centre while the protest was taking place and I would like to thank all those affected for their patience.

"We respect the right to lawful protest and will facilitate this wherever possible where it is safe to do so. However, criminal offences and public disorder will not be tolerated, and we will always take robust action against anyone who commits a criminal offence."

The force has urged people not to speculate about the descriptions of the suspects.

Mr Chapman added: "I understand the distress and concern that this incident has caused, both for the victim herself and amongst our local communities, and I want to reassure you that we are working hard to progress this investigation.

"While we have already carried out extensive enquiries, we do not have sufficient information at this time to update you with the descriptions of the suspects.

"I appreciate that this causes increased concern, and I can assure you that we will update you with these descriptions as soon as we are able to do so."
I have highlighted the most relevant passages as I really hate posting anything approaching Stirling length as I find it sleep inducing.
