Immigration

But you can’t condemn illegal immigrants as money grabbing ponces who should be sent back to whence they came!
No. I condemn all money grabbing ponces as lazy burdens on society who should be required to work in some way in order to receive any benefits. Wherever they come from.

I don’t condemn those illegal immigrants who are genuinely fleeing oppression or war in an effort to make their family safe.

OK, so as long as they are genuinely fleeing oppression or war in an effort to make their family safe, it is fine for them to be "money grabbing ponces as lazy burdens on society who should be required to work in some way in order to receive any benefits"? How many would you say are genuinely fleeing oppression or war?

But during my the process of finding out they may be ponces; they get money and board. And legal help to stay and be ponces for ever. 🤔

I think the EU said up to about 20% of refugees are genuine. The rest are economic migrants. Which may well be relatively genuine in that you'd have a completely s*** and short life if you stayed in your country. However, the person in me now says that my countries fought for what they have, and there's no reason for me to work to fund someone that decides they want more. They need to perhaps fight for their countries and improve them.
Obviously, however, even if their countries became rich you can guarantee they wouldn't treat refugees like we do. Like little kids basically. Here's your room, here's your phone, here are your meals, here's your shoes, here's your heating, here's your TV. You know it's ridiculous and making them helpless. All I meet have what could be described as learned helplessness. Waiting for their next freebies even if they work illegally. Their job money sent home for more to arrive.

well, what could possibly go wrong ?

As soon as they arrive they become our responsibility. Until their claims have been processed. Not providing support would make things worse, not better. If there was a better solution it would be used, but there isn’t.

But many are not illegal immigrants.
We can do nothing about them; they are British. Stop muddying the water like you did by calling Asian groomers just criminals. In the purest sense you are correct but this is a football forum. Not a court of law. The thread has a title and subject. Try sticking to it.
So you think that football fans should ignore the law and debate unworkable ideas just to amuse themselves?

There are no “purest” senses! There are only practical and impractical solutions.

Thanks though for acknowledging I am correct. That’s a breakthrough!

Think wissie it isn’t the first time so dont be sarky please!
No the law is the law but debate is not intrinsically tied in with it.
I ask you to separate the ponces but you cannot for some reason

On the contrary, if we withdrew all support they would stop coming immediately.

aren't told that people arriving in from countries with a violent homophobic culture are all now tolerant of Gays ? Its like a magic transformation happens at the UK border ?
If you take the number of apparently gay Iraqi and Afghan men seeking asylum as a mean average, then there are more gay men then straight in these countries. It is odd. It’s even odder when they are found to have a wife and 10 children in their homeland. It’s one of the mysteries of the universe.

Whilst shocking this is really no surprise. When loopholes exist in an inefficient system there will always be some ready to exploit them. All this does is demonstrate how badly we are handling visa applications.

Not just in accepting fraudulent applications of this type, but refusing perfectly legitimate ones. I know someone whose wife, who acquired British citizenship many years ago, sponsored her sister to visit her. She was paying all the costs, and providing the flight tickets back and forth. No cost to us at all, in fact a gain to our economy. A simple UK visitor visa was applied for, substantial fees paid, documentation produced and biometrics taken. It was refused on the basis they weren’t satisfied her sister wouldn’t overstay. She has her own family to return to and an offer was made to deposit a security guarantee. An appeal isn’t available and she was warned another application would also be refused.

My understanding is, which others here may have better information on than me, that many of the applications these days are actually made by algorithms flagging up red lines, with little human involvement.

If true, with the reported statistics of the level of asylum claims that succeed because of potential mistreatment in the home countries coming hugely disproportionately from a small number of sources, this ought to be easy to identify and stop. No matter how elaborate the deception.
