Kamada

Those are volume totals, rather than success rates or anything like that.

'Progressive Passes Received' refers to how often they receive forward passes from others - Wharton is typically the one making these passes, so rarely the receiver - he only receives, on average, 0.75 forwarded passes from teammates per 90 minutes.

Hope that makes sense!
Thanks for clarification. So the data does not show success rate of attempted forward passes just the number. The overall % completed is pretty much a meaningless stat as many, especially for defenders and DM's are short or to players in acres of space. TBH, I'd be attempted to say the eye test is better for someone like Kamada. Just because you can measure something does not make it meaningful. But itis clear from the debate that different players have different eyes

Correct, but combined with the pass completion %, you get a clear feel for how often and how successfully a player is progressing the ball; Wharton makes nearly twice as many forward passes as Hughes, without any drop off in his overall pass completion %, so you can conclude that Wharton is a much better at progressing the ball forward, which I'm sure we'd all agree with.

Most stats are meaningless in isolation, but I haven't provided any in isolation for that reason.

It's definitely meaningful that across a fairly broad range of metrics covering most actions you'd expect a central midfielder to be involved in, he performs relatively well.

Well, you would hope to get some sort of return on your investment at £100k a week. Nice to see he decided to join in.

He was a free transfer so not sure why his pay bothers people so much. Had we paid £5m transfer, peanuts these days, and he was on £50k a week it would have cost the club a similar amount. If there was a £10m transfer fee avoided, which undervalues him in the current market, then he's been playing for effectively nothing.

He'll pick up another huge wage (or signing on fee) at his next club in the summer in the same way. And if he helps them to 2 or 3 trophies they probably won't mind.

Exactly. If I were being uncharitable I might also question whether his increased contribution last night was related to the pending expiry of his contract, but as I have no reason to doubt his attitude I'll simply observe that he was more positive with the ball in one game last night than he has been all season beforehand.

I enjoyed his performance very much, shame not to see more of it.

If he was that good and a £20m-£30m player, why didn’t we sell him for a big profit as soon as he signed? We could have saved £100k a week too 😜

Last night apart in the 2025/2026 league he's made 20 appearances (17 starts) with 0 goals and 0 assists. For a player in his position that isn't much of a return.

I certainly think it’s fair to say he could’ve contributed more in the final third this season.

But it’s also fair to point out that a central midfielder can impact games in lots of other ways, as Kamada regularly does.

But two trophies and a chance for a third is

He played his part in this success

He could have been more effective for large parts of his two years but he's contributed more than lots of big money signings in last few years that have cost a fortune and delivered less.

He has but when Wharton (or Hughes) doesn't score either we're not carrying as much goal threat as we should.
It's possible that Kamada has being playing to strict instruction since he scored about 1 in 6 in Germany but surely he could have more assists.

He's looked much more confident of late. A valuable member of the team who used to irritate a lot of us with his poor passing and badly timed tackles.

The question is, will he stay or will he go?

I have never viewed Kamada in the same 'Negative' light as many on HOL and perhaps those outside this esteemed site. I have appreciated his overall contribution and he is an important cog in the 'Glasner Wheel' where he is well versed in the system.
Initially he found the physicality of the PL challenging but his skillset in terms of being a playmaker is where he excels.
He is a quiet lad, not the loudest in the dressing room but he is so professional.
I am not expecting to see him in our colours next season.
