What's your reason for posting comments on holmesdale.net.

My reasons are simple.

I enjoyed reading everyone else's comments, so I thought I'd get involved too; more so when I'm off work like now.

To keep up to date with all palace related things. Don't here much over here but I joined 16 years ago so would have heared even less back then. Was also for tickets but back in the championship days I went 3-4 times a year. Could just land on the day, pick what stand you wanted in and got a ticket there and then. Used to stay full weekend and got cheap flights and hotels as matches were always at 3 on a Saturday so could plan well in advance. Haven't seen palace play live in the prem. To much hassle to get tickets and with my circumstances now I couldn't get anyway. Will happily go back to Selhurst when we eventually go down again but hope that's a few years away yet. The Main Stand might be done by the next time I'm over!

A variety of motivations.

I am no longer able to get to SE25 as I am living abroad. This is a way for me to stay spiritually connected with eagles all around the world.

There are times when it is shared therapy! For example the FA Cup Third round match this year. Or even just a poor run of form when you wonder how the team will get out of a rut or score a goal.

Thirdly, there are some highly talented purveyors of banter on here whose craft I envy and admire from afar in equal measure.

I’m on both HOL and BBS. I spend more time on HOL.
On the football side it’s good to have the exchange of views, and putting the world to rights on who the latest awful transfer is, people leaving the game early, why did we sell Glenn Murray etc and also going down memory lane for those of us getting old now. I also enjoy the humour. Some of the stuff people come out with is hilarious.
As I’ve been off work sick for a couple of months which has coincided with the war I’ve spent more time on the politics forum which seems to be a place where people wind up and insult each other quite a lot and the political debate is quite narrow. It’s very different from BBS where there is less insulting and more debating, and where the political standpoint of the fans is more left wing.
Being on both sites does unfortunately take up a lot of time but when your kicking your heels it fills the day although I have to say people like Stirling and Willo must be in line for a long service award for the amount they post.it must be a full time job!

I am on here because I like many of the posters including some on the left. I post on all topics as a way of letting off steam.

On match days I am on the other site as there are far more people posting on the game thread. If we had that number on here I would not use the other site.

My 'Raison D'etre' for joining the cherished HOL back in 2013 was purely to engage in debate with fellow supporters on football related matters.
I never joined to be a mouthpiece for the 'Conservative Party' and I rarely foray into the cut and thrust of political debates - I have an active political life outside of HOL and concentrate my efforts well away from this esteemed site !

Your 'Raison D'etre" could also be expanding the vocabulary or many of us here. Lol

For avoidance of doubt I am not engaging in rhetorical grandstanding or magniloquence.
Whilst on HOL, and indeed away from this cherished site, I have been known for florid articulation, I am just a humble gentleman far removed from being a vainglorious chappie.I certainly have no ego sprouting as rapidly as 'Clematis Montana'.
In the final analysis I am infinitesimal and bow down to those who grace HOL with their knowledge and sagacity.

Interesting Q? I'm 11 weeks shy of 19 years on this site(many would say, 18 too long), i started because living in the (East) Midlands as i was, many people i got to know mainly pre-match told me about it & who they were on here. There were some right characters on here, some sadly departed, we became friends & then we started having meets, mainly in the White Horse, as it was, good times. I just like this site & can't stand that other one, talk about cliquey.

most carbon-based life-forms in my vicinity do not listen to me. Even the dog.

HOL gives me an opportunity to vent steam, give out, and to pretend that anybody gives a flying fv.ck about my right-wing opinions (they don't ). I am old and wise enough to know how unimportant my opinions are - People only call me 'sir' when i am spending money - but i guess they will call me sir if i ever get arrested.

But my choice is either a) give vent on HOL or b) sit at the bus stop ranting like a loon. At least the feckers on here can understand the English language.

Also, while living in ireland, my pathological dislike of Brighton is unintelligible to the ManUre/Liverpool/Everton supporting locals. You guys get it.

Homer Simpson at some fancy club - I like it here. It's the only place anyone calls me Sir without adding You're making a scene.
