He is one of a small number of players worth a last look before they move on. So it makes sense to let the new man (sorry person) have as much time as possible by shaking hands with OG if we duck out of the Conference Cup.
Personally I've never been convinced by JRS, but I may need to add that to my list of got wrongs
 
I would definitely keep him, he is left footed, and give him a pre-season under the new manager before any decision is made, he might just be a late developer, i have always rated his skill but his strength was the problem, still only 23.
