That Billion+ pound club

GBP 262 million loss last year!

And in danger of missing Champions League this year.

The only reason they're not in FFP violation is selling the women's team to themselves last year.

What a joke Clearlake is! 🤣

Lost £720,000 a day for a year? They might need a new accountant.

A good day all around. Spurs blowing the lead 2x to stay in relegation zone. And Chelsea losing to make it harder to make the champions league.

Everyone thought Chelsea's defense was going to be the issue, but they haven't scored in 4 straight matches.

The investors in clearlake's funds will not be happy 🤣🤣🤣

Oh my. Hitting a new low. I thought Lampard’s interim period was the low. I was wrong.

It’s sad to see what 1.5 billion gets you these days.
Personally, I think the spending and contracts are more of a problem than anything else. You've got something like 80 overpaid players milling around and needing their hair cut. Chelsea will end up with players outnumbering supporters at this rate.
I don't blame Rosenior. I don't think anyone can manage that squad. You'd need a supermarket manager. Not a football manager.

Sky mentioned him earlier but thought he'd want too much independence to suit either party. They're getting to the stage where picking up a nice pay off after a few months while not necessarily suffering much reputational damage might appeal though.

Well 1.6 billion has gained Clearlake (aka BlueCo)... no European places.

I didn't watch today's match (watching Palace and flipping to the Spurs and West Ham matches), but seemed like a bad loss to Sunderland, with a red card for Fofana, which according to the reports was entirely avoidable.

BTW, when I say BlueCo has no European places, I'm including Chelsea-lite (not Brighton, that's Chelsea-Academy), Strasbourg. Knocked out of Conference League and 8th in Ligue 1.

That's going to take a hit to their bottom line, and they can't even sell the women's team to themselves again, or the hotel, or...

I'm not saying Abramovich was good for the game, those wishing for him back are delusional, he played under different rules (some of which are now illegal, others of which were then and have been found out). I'm just saying this ownership came in and tried to 'revolutionize' the way a club should be run, talking down to other owners and doing things that were not the status quo (7 year contracts for a ton of players). It's now come back to bite them where it hurts and I hate to say it, but it pleases me, as it's karma for their arrogance.
