A lot of misinformation and over reaction mostly caused by social media. Personally I feel safer here then I would in the UK where you may now get terrorist attack

Just had sister in law in England ask if I could hear the bombs in Dubai. Had to point out the Cyprus is as close to Dubai as it is to England. FFS calm down people

The media do like the hype don’t they! I was in Islamabad at the time of 9/11, we were watching Sky news reporting form Islamabad claiming it was the most dangerous place on earth. We were watching while sitting round the pool having a few beers. TBF they also said that the British High Commissioner, had left a meeting wearing a burka, not sure why he was a male 😂😂

Starmer confirms UK to send HMS Dragon to region


Sir Keir Starmer has confirmed the UK will bolster its defensive operations after speaking to the president of Cyprus.


He says the UK will send helicopters with counter drone capabilities and HMS Dragon to the region.


"We will always act in the interest of the UK and our allies," he adds.


Our security and defence editor Deborah Haynes reported earlier the UK was considering the deployment of a Type 45 air defence destroyer to Cyprus to help defend the RAF bases there.


The warship is a Type 45 destroyer - the only piece of equipment in the British arsenal with the ability to shoot down ballistic missiles.
 
Currently no domestic flights in or out of Cyprus. If it remains this way our away leg will have to be played at the Camp Nou 🤣

Can't be ruled out any where so it's a stupid statement. To my knowledge there has never been a terrorist attack in Cyprus unlike the UK. The unarmed drone last week was not reported as a terrorist attack by Cyprus or UK. As for crime any female can walk around at night without fear of being hassled( unless it's some pisshead tourist). The crime rate here is roughly 80% lower the the UK. So feel a lot safer here then on the odd occasion have to visit UK

The wording may be a bit silly, but it’s obviously talking about the current situation with the regional conflict that is currently a minor concern for Cyprus but has indeed spilled over already on that one occasion.

How much safer Cyprus may be in general than the UK is irrelevant if that situation comes into play.
