Larnaca Cyprus under Iranian attack

Have I missed something?

I have only seen one drone has hit the base at RAF Akrotiri.

Have there now been further attacks on Cyprus, including Larnaca?

There have been several reports on social media of a loud explosion in Larnaca. The Daily Express has also reported this.

However there are also reports from locals saying they have heard nothing.

Easyjet also cancelled 3 flights to Paphos and Larnaca on Monday, however flights on Tuesday are scheduled to run.

Obviously the situation may change quickly before the match.

Currently we (the club) are expecting to travel to Cyprus. It’s an ongoing situation and we may have to change those plans at the last minute, depending on the situation on the ground, government advice, and pending the decision of suits from UEFA and both FAs.

Second time we find ourselves in this kind of situation in this inaugural European campaign. Obviously there was some question for a short time where our game against Dynamo was to be held.

You never want to see something like this affect the game. Incidentally we did benefit from it last time as I’m sure the second batch of tickets never would’ve come to pass if it had been a true Dynamo home game. You’d trade it for peace every time though.

Fingers crossed this game will stay in Larnaca, the fighting will come to an end, and the only battles we will have to concern ourselves will be on the pitch.

Pure speculation, but in the event that the game does move I would imagine Athens or Belgrade as the most likely alternatives, of course depending on their own situations by then.

The EJ and BA Flights have been cancelled today - however both Cyprus Airways and Aegean Airlines have been flying to Athens so there is the possibility that they could fly there and take a connection to UK.

I am stuck in Cyprus and looking at different options to try and get back as I don’t see the UK carriers flying for a few days at least (hope I am wrong as re-booked on the EJ flight for tomorrow)

Can we stay on topic please.

It’s important to understand if the Larnaca area has been attacked or not.

I’ve still not seen anything to confirm that it has.

One drone strike on the base at RAF Akrotiri, two drones intercepted yesterday heading for RAF Akrotiri.

Nothing for Larnaca, other than social media reporting a ‘loud boom’ heard last night, which could be something as simple as an aircraft breaking the sound barrier?

EasyJet have cancelled all flights to Larnaca & Paphos till Thursday.

Tomorrow’s EJ flight from Larnaca is still showing as running (I am booked on it) and have not heard anything that says it has been cancelled (although this is probably likely).

Can I ask where you saw this please?

I posted that it's flights TO those airports, not the other way round. The info has been on several news outlets as well as 'social' media'. Hope you're able to get something sorted, you know what airlines are like, never give anyone any info either way.

Drone from Lebanon it seems, Beirut used to be a nice destination years ago.
The only incident was a small drone at the RAF base which caused very minor damage. It came from Lebanon and was not a weaponised drone
A lot of misinformation and over reaction mostly caused by social media. Personally I feel safer here then I would in the UK where you may now get terrorist attack
UPDATE
Just had sister in law in England ask if I could hear the bombs in Dubai. Had to point out the Cyprus is as close to Dubai as it is to England. FFS calm down people

Lebanon used to be the financial capital of the Middle East a few decades ago until they ruined it

Beirut was easily one of my favourite places in the Middle East / East Africa region to visit, probably got there maybe 10 times, (Pre the port explosion, of course) always very well looked after & good food -
