Gorton & Denton By-election

We never considered Gorton & Denton to be 'Fertile' territory for us Conservatives, we were 5th in the constituency at the General Election.
Last night's result will have no bearing on the position of Kemi Badenoch.
And now you see why everyone on the right should be voting Reform. Tactical voting will be in be full force going forward.
Do you want to back a horse that has no chance, or one that can win. It's that simple.

Getting rid of Labour will be the aim of those on the right and many on the left, along with their new Muslim buddies, it seems. At the same time they will be voting to stop Tory and Reform.

Sectarianism is now a very real factor, as was easily predictable. It will only be defeated in future by a united front across the right.

Party loyalties will only end in disaster for Britain.

The Greens are the furthest left in the country.

It's going to be interesting.
It was all dark arts with an irreconcilable result.
Tbe Greens circulated pictures of Starmer with Modi and drove the Gaza issue and thus persuaded Muslims to vote for a pro LGBT, drugs for all transgender party! I’m sure those policies go down well in Pakistan and Bangladesh or the local mosque.
However, the actual candidate looked like the most authentic. Matt Goodwin is a self indulgent political theorist from The South. He seem to have spent his adult life in various universities As a perpetual student. What would he have in common with Northerners?

Family voting will obviously be a thing in the Islamic community. It's indicative of how that culture works.

While it would manipulate some votes and shouldn't be allowed (and I have no doubt it was) I doubt any of those manipulated votes would have been voting Reform.

It's just another attack on who we are.

Jacob Rees-Mogg has consistently advocated that the 'Right' must unite to defeat the 'Left'.

Well obviously I like Goodwin, but not an unreasonable summary.

I just wish I was in my 20s in a way.

He is right, but it can't be under Badenoch.

Farage is the man of the moment for the right. I don't expect loyal Tories to stop being Tories, but I do think that they need to see how tactical voting might save us from a very dark future.

In this country they have to adhere to OUR laws. Family voting at polling stations is illegal.

It's better it's brought to a head, at a stage where it can actually be dealt with.

The Conservatives nor Reform will do anything radical to change the direction of travel.

It's all a betrayal of our children.

It did seem like a strange choice, although I don't think the candidate would have made much difference.
The Greens won because of total disillusion with Labour and exploitation of sectarianism.

Sure, but it's going to happen.....laws aren't magic, they are interpreted and acted upon by people.

Change the people, you change what laws are enacted and what are ignored.....The Tories carried on Blairism and changed areas even more than Labour. In power, the Tories are social liberals, they just pretend differently.

Maybe you should ask yourself why May and Cameron are still members of your party.

If this isn't a wake up call about the threat of Islamism then nothing will be.
These are advocates and/or supporters of Islamic fundamentalism and (believe it or not) our views on them are probably closer than you think. But...

Most Muslims are not Islamists.

Not all "brown" people are Muslim at all. Many are Buddhists, Hindus, Zoroastrians, atheists, Christians or other.

So, just so we know the point you are making, which of the above pose the threat you speak of?

Didn't last night
Only 6.5% of the country are Muslim. That might be a little higher come election time. This result is the exception more that the rule. Nonetheless, it does show that people on the left will vote to stop the right rather than for their traditional party.

I suspect the small but diehard SWP cohort would choke on their Woodbines if they read that.

How are they more left wing? I think SWP are anti Nato? But that's also a right wing position with many in the modern day (well, more skeptic Nato than anti). Other than that I can't really know of any differences and I can't be bothered to research it.

Not obvious at all. The current youthful generation has shown a distinct tendency to move away from block familial voting.

And do you think conservatively minded Islamic "elders" would lead their "people" to vote in a gay Jew?

The "brown" population voted Green as the Libs had not bothered to turn up. Labour and anything right of centre were not an option.

That is, Green got the "X" by default.

Officially.

Personally I think it's closer to 9 percent.

2 points.

One, I was joking. We know each other well enough to know when I am pulling the leg.

Two, what? They are so hard left that if the SWP got into power they would nationalize this site!
