Correct me if I’m wrong, but in my first match at Palace (v Millwall March 76) I seem to remember Peter Taylor taking a pen which ended up somewhere near the corner flag. Anyone else remember this? Match ended 0-0.

Yes, he generally used the outside of his boot when shooting and that penalty nearly went for a throw in.
Tremendous player though so after 50 years he's almost forgiven that lapse.

For pure pyschological impact I'm still scarred by the 4 penalties we got against Brighton in the 80s during one match, 3 of which we missed!

Even worse, Brighton also got 1 and Curbishley slotted it with a minimum of fuss. At least we won 2-1 overall (with a cracker from Ian Wright in open play if memory serves).

The 5 penalties awarded in normal time was and as far as I know still is a record.
