Personally I think OG's tactics, as they stand, are only suited to clubs that do not expect to dominate the game. Can you imagine the likes of Liverpool, Manchester city/United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona enjoying watching their teams sit back and play on the break. No mater how effective it is they expect to dominate. Even the likes of Spurs or Newcastle, who desperately want to get to the high table wouldn't accept those tactics for long.

OG, is at present one dimensional in his way of playing. That's not to say he couldn't adapt, but he will need to be at another mid/low table, low achieving club to get the time or acceptance he will need. I cant see him in charge of any top club for long if at all. Plus as others have said, the top clubs will not look favorably on his outbursts.

I think most managers are, Pepe only plays one way. Whether that is pleasing on the eye for the supporters is another argument.

I wonder if Palace might be looking at the positions of Frank, Dyche and Nuno and waiting to see any of that trio get the boot by the summer. With Matt Hobbs at the club that possibly puts Nuno higher up the list if he leaves Spam. Matt Woosnam reported that this winter's spending was an anomaly and the club will be returning to buying young players with potential this summer, so that might also influence who comes in.

OG does have only one way of playing and as others have said, this isn’t uncommon among managers.

I’d suggest that OG’s party trick is that his style of playing is quite unique, therefore works well for a smaller club (Palace) in springing a surprise on other teams by transforming said smaller club into an unfamiliar force which other teams can’t cope very well with… initially anyway. Hence his short term success and contracts.

The problem with this party trick however is that other managers/teams will eventually get a grip on it and it becomes redundant.

I was slightly surprised by OG’s talk of a ‘reset’ in etc in his press conference. He has the players available now and attackers galore. I’m still convinced, with WHU and Leeds somewhat reviving, we’ll be fighting for 17th the longer OG is here. The jig is up, he doesn’t have any solutions and PL survival will surely become the priority for the board. A loss in the derby should be good timing for that.

It’s worth a watch, only 30 minutes but it reinforces the fact that Glasner is massively ambitious and never hangs around in one job.

I think his stock has dropped rather than grown the last couple of months so I’ll be intrigued to see where he ends up.
This is actually good news for Palace. He knows, to ramp up interest in his services to the max winning the Conference League is going to be important to do that. If he can win us another trophy AND qualify for the Euro tournament we rightfully should be in anyway I'm sure he'll go with everyone's best wishes.

That is interesting, in as much as the manager is obviously the one on the big bucks, and can afford to sit around while the "right" job becomes available.

What about the backroom boys, can they all afford to not be working while they wait for the boss to get the motivation to work again?
A couple of them were in work across Europe when Glasner accepted the Palace job. They instantly quit to come and join Glasner at Selhurst. I have no idea if Palace had to pay any compensation to the clubs they were at. I imagine Parish chucked them a few quid to smooth the way. Thats usually how it works.

Glasner at a ‘big club’ would be a re run of Amorim. No big club would tolerate a winless run like we are on now or went on at the start of last season.
I agree, I think he'll get his big break in 'top six' football but will find both owners as well as fans far less patient and the project will ultimately fail. I still think he is an amazing manager (for us) but one of the huge clubs will already be slightly turned off by his open criticism of Palace ownership. United for example sacked Amorim for that exact reason!

There's a lot of smoke and speculation and opinion flying around, and a bit of Glasner's shine has come off, but he was 100% right about one thing - in the off-season the transfer dealings should have been done in May/June not August/September - period. It wasn't the amount of money spent that concerned him but the haphazard, last minute and amateurish way business was conducted. Eze had a release clause, Arsenal wanted him, Guehi was in his last year, Sarr was going to Afcon - why did the owners not factor these facts into their strategy? They tried to save three or four million by making sure replacements weren't over-priced and in doing so have spent umpteen times more repairing the cost of their unforgiveable short-sightedness. That imho is what sealed Ollie's decision to leave.
Zaha had a price, Arsenal wanted him. But...they thought we were mugs and offered less than half what Palace valued him at. Tried to unsettle the player (which very nearly worked), STILL didn't offer what Palace wanted for him and went on to spend far more on a total flop.
My point is Arsenal have form for dicking people around. Palace were absolutely right to not over commit financially on a 'maybe' that Arsenal 'might' meet Eze's release clause. In the end it was only Spuds strong and serious interest in him that forced Arsenal's hand. FFS< they were even putting out boastful stories in the media all summer claiming they could/would get Eze for far less than his release clause!
Palace probably explained to Glasner that once we knew the Eze money was definitely coming he could have his reinforcements. It was definitely not Palace's fault that Arsenal dragged that out till the bitter end. Glasner should have understood that. Instead he bitched and whined about it.

Cant see us going for Nuno.
1. He also has form for openly criticizing owners
2. He pulled a fast one on Palace once before. Agreeing to join Palace only to go back on his word and join Spuds.
3. It is said he always insists on bringing all his backroom staff with him and he with his team are said to be the most expensive coaching staff in the Prem.

Imagine after Amorim there will have been a few clubs watching how Palace reacted to OG's complaints. If managers thought all they had to do to get out of a contract and move on was to publicly slag off their club it would be quite awkward for a few chairmen.

An awful lot of the contenders for the Palace job talked about on here are struggling with arguably better squads in the same relegation battle that we are in. I think Parish has a really difficult job finding a manager that will achieve the same or better success that Hodgson and Glasner have achieved.

Ollie, unlike Kier Starmer, will almost certainly be here till till late May. So not much point in speculating till then, esp about the likes of Frank, Santo and Dyche who will probably have that creeping burn out which managers can't admit to. There are great managers out there yet to be discovered, whether they can adapt to the prem is always hard to judge, but hopefully we can get that balance right between potential and tried and tested and find a de Zerbi, Pochettino or Ariola, even a Rosenior, it's now looking like a punt on Carrick wouldn't have been too shabby. I don't think Steve Cooper would be a bad shout, more to come from him, did wonders at Forest but that wasn't enough for the flabulous one and Leicester were a basket case when he went there, has had a break as an advisor so won't be jaded by his experiences - there will be some diamonds in the rough, but of all the known quantities I could see him succeeding here, unless Fabregas would like to use us as a stepping stone on his way back to the prem.

Steve Cooper is manager of Brondby who are 3rd in the Danish Super League.
He was appointed in September last year.

You’re beginning to sound like ChatGPT Willo…. only with a more extensive vocabulary and a propensity to fear the worst when it comes to Palace.
I am somewhat advanced in years so not 'Au Fait' with all this modern technology.
In terms of my 'Vocabulary', many will conclude that it is a load of pabulum, a tornado of hogwash and bilge. In the final analysis I am an intellectual vacuum.
Apropos our team, I agree that I have a propensity to fear the worst and have gained a reputation as an 'Elijah of Doom' on HOL.
