The English parliament gets taken advantage of in many ways......This was a main argument 20, 30 years ago but as usual nothing was done about it.

Personally it wouldn't bother me......if the English were gifted the same treatment in Scotland and Ireland....I don't think the Welsh are that bad though.

My understanding is that the highest grade intelligence category is something like 'UK EYES ONLY'. Literally excluding anybody not holding a UK passport. Now as CoS, Sweeney MUST see documents with this level of grading, as would anybody operating at Cabinet level. And he should not be anywhere near them.

Well as the top people with access to state and other secrets are those who actually despise much of British history and a not insignificant percent of the country.... it's somewhat ironic.
 
The media stories seem to be focusing on Mandy and Andy. I am thinking this is a distraction technique to divert attention from the many others involved. Definitely a witch-hunt with those two and their immediate family.
Make no mistake, this is huge. And the distraction techniques are many.
When Sir Keir Starmer was asked to comment on allegations relating to Rent Boys, he said he "doesn't know anything about them",...and that should be good enough to fulfil the requirements of any investigation.

To be fair, the Mandelson stuff is pretty huge news, from a UK perspective. Somebody at Cabinet level divulging information to a foreigner is literally treachery. The Andy stuff...he is a joke but still Royalty, of a kind.

But yes, the lack of focus on the links between Epstein and Israel tells its own story.
 
You can see why the media are treading carefully.

Predictable. Someone has to take the fall for Starmer.

The question is, how dodgy is Starmer? It is being painted as poor judgement, but if you concede that much as Prime Minister then there must be more.

Clearly, Starmer's leadership is not to everyone's liking within his own party.

I'm trying to deflect the stress of watching this game by posting.
 
Starmer is there to take the flak from what happens in the May local elections. Then he goes. Rayner probably now in poll position to take over.

Labour, just like the Tories, seem intent on self-destruction. Scuppering Burnham's bid to become and MP, and perhaps challenge for Leadership, now seems a bit perilous for the Party. Burnham was Labour-principled and a good face for public image. I think he would have stood a better chance as Labour Leader in a GE than any of the others around.
But we don't know who else may be taken down by more Epstein information releases

Until this debacle, then not at all. Streeting was the one in the frame for the job. But has Mandleson so far up him (suspect both metaphorically and literally), that he is now damaged goods. Suspect he will fade away into the background and look to make the push after the next GE if Labour lose although his own seat is potentially on the line.

But Rayner has had a 'good' crisis. Got all the plaudits for forcing the Government to pledge to publish all the correspondence via the Intelligence Committee as opposed to the Cabinet Office and has emerged from this as a distinctive voice. Her sacking might actually prove to be a blessing in disguise because she has distance on this all.
