Nottingham Forest vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Clutching at straws maybe, but the header from the corner that led to the penalty was a highlight of a miserable afternoon.
I thought we worked hard to keep in the game against a better side in first half and recover from early goal. No idea what to do when we had so much possession and 11 vs 10 in second half. Doesnt bode well for Conference matches. Pino stepped up to the plate to at least to try to create something rather than Max/Chris/Lerma endlessly shuffling ball backwards n sideways along the backline for endless time. Lerma fought well and his goal-bound header was a highlight. New forward, new centre back (surely) the lad from villa, wharton, kamada and Nketiah added to yesterdays squad (plus Devanney as back up) will surely see us move towards safety. I hope Glasner won't be given time to claim any credit for it. And if we slip up against Burnley/Wolves/Bosnia away he should go anyway. Thanks for the fabulous 18 months. But I cant stand seeing his smug "not my problem" pre and post match attitude for a single moment further. COYP!

Our performances are starting to look like Roy's England. Maybe he's been brought on behind the scenes to grind out results and get us to safety?!

And no offsides, clearly what we'd been working on during the week, not an entirely serious point but it was becoming an issue.

Yes, like the worst of Roy and as someone else said, like the end of Vieira days. Which surely means the end for Glasner...

Oh come on...you've a hard on for Esse that's behind a lot of what you write on here against Glasner.

At least that's the way it comes across to me.

And I've a hunch that you're one of those '' I told you so '' kind of people.

Oh well, each to their own....
Hunch? He literally just did.

Under different circumstances I would have been disappointed, perhaps irate that we never gained all the points after Nottm Forest were reduced to 10 men.
Looking at the 'Bigger picture', I was content with the fact that we stretched the points differential with W.Ham to 9 pts and given that I expected a defeat before the match I was satisfied with the outcome.

I wonder if there is a formula for the also-ran clubs in the premier league?

Forest? Brighton? Leicester!? We all have our allotted 5 minutes of glory and then it's "back in your box".

Perhaps it's just our turn.

He's critical in as far as having options to rotate through. There are far, far more important reasons we haven't won recently than Kamada being out. Some being:

- The total unrest caused my our manager telling the squad he's leaving.
- Our captain being sold.
- Our sole striker being in the worst form of his life (while carrying an injury)
- This same striker then coming out and saying he wants out too.
- Our manager not trusting anyone else in his squad except the starting 11.
- The absence of Sarr and Munoz - two of the most important players in our system.
- A busy schedule of games with Europe and Cups...without the squad size to service it.

Every single one of those things has been more material in our poor form than bloody Daichi Kamada being injured. Tell me something...when Henderson said today "we know what's causing the bad form" do you think he's referring to Kamada being out? No, me neither.

Lets see how much better we look next week when he's back to partner Wharton 🙂

The counterattacking football that we are set up to play, cannot and does not work with Lerma and Hughes type players. Their passing and vision just isn't up to it.

you are so disengenous its laughable. Keep ignoring context and keep peddling your agenda lad. If you want context I can give it you but knowing you, you will still pump out whatever narrative you're trying to sell
have you spoken to coventry fans , he wasnt even in the game after coming on , other games yes he showed some skill but kept losing the ball , he is a long way off prem level , but he is playing for a good championship team , but he hasnt finished his schooling he needs to learn , at the moment he his very hit and miss . I hope he does come good but he is only showing championship level at the moment , why cant you understand that , as for highlighted pot kettle black comes to mind , and also im most proberly 40 years older than you so dont insult me by calling me Lad

I think one clairing problem is we have no goal scores in midfield. Think you could count the goals from midfield on one hand.
Hughes 0
Wharton 0
Kamada 1?
Lerma1
Believe these numbers are right but sure someone will point out my errors

There was an opportunity ,with them going down to ten, to get a win but when do we ever win up there? Most seasons we would call it a good point. Just disappointing to have our inability to break a low block highlighted once again. Regardless with players returning and new signings this could be a turning point.

Your figures are not far out. And it’s a glaring weakness which doesn’t look like being addressed any time soon. When they are all fit they are a decent midfield but half of them couldn’t hit a barn door ,the other half are rarely in scoring positions. Most sides have midfielders contributing a reasonable percentage of goals ,not Palace.

Hughes played a great pass to put Sarr in a great position to shoot but he instead crossed to nobody. I don’t understand why Hughes and Wharton aren’t being coached how to shoot - maybe instead of a specialist set piece coach we need a shots coach, suggestions anyone ?

Truth is you have either got it, or you haven’t. Hughes has been in the game a long time now, how much coaching must he have ever had? It’s only my opinion, but both Hughes, and Wharton show in their body language a distinct lack of confidence whenever they might need to shoot, this results in a lose of correct shape, hence rarely even hitting the target.
