Nottingham Forest vs. Crystal Palace match thread

playing against 10 men has changed from the old days , look how we looked against chelsea , you keep a couple of quicks up front , so when not defending very very deep you scare them to drop a couple back with a breakway at pace , give credit to forest for containing us with 10 men , there not the first team in the prem to do this to other teams
To be fair we made it easy for them to play with 10 men. We were clueless in being able to work out a plan and I honestly think we were lucky to come away with a point. We were very poor today.

Not a great performance, but when you have a CM of Hughes and Lerma, you are not going to get a load of insightful passing. They are solid squad players but we'll never progress with them in the team.

Johnson and Sarr need space in behind, so the low block essentially nullifies their threat.

Pino, predictably getting loads of stick, and he did misplace a bunch of passes, but he was working hard to get on the ball and try and make things happen. I suspect he had triple the touches of any of the other attackers. I do wish fans could appreciate that he was the the only player trying to force thing, instead of looking at exclusively the bad stuff and writing him off.

Wharton and hopefully Kamada back next week. We'll start to get some rhythm back. I'll keep banging the Kamada drum, but we've been terrible without him.

Nope, we were completely disorganised and especially in the second half. Players did not help each other and passing was absolutely awful. I don’t think any of our so called forward players had a plan given to them at all. Glasner screwed it up as he has done for the last couple of months even with players missing for lots of our games. It was embarrassing at times watching our players not have a clue :-(

Once again we were found wanting against a 'Low Block'.
Our delivery from wide areas was disappointing.
We had no imagination in and around their box and substitute goalkeeper Angus Gunn never had a shot to save.
Munoz has not hit the heights since his return from injury.
Hughes looked fatigued in the last 10 minutes but options from the bench were limited.

Someone talking sense for a change. It was a good performance in the first half but we could not take advantage of playing against 10 men as we lacked creativity and modern teams are reluctant to put the ball in the box and risk losing possession. Consequently we made it very easy for Forest however after West Ham lost yesterday I for one am happy with the point. That doesn’t mean that I wasn’t shouting at the TV about our performance though but if we had lost my foot would have gone through it.

This game was very similar to the worst that Roy could offer, particularly those games where we barely created any attempts on goal. This game was especially nefarious in that we created absolutely nothing in the second half against ten men. Really really poor, no one taking or wanting the responsibility, no leadership on and off the pitch.
Bring on Brighton.

The Boris that nobody seems to be abke
To beat a man…. Or even want to attempt it. Pino getting past a man seems impossible.

Hopefully Guessand will be able to skin his man!!!!

It was telling that when Hughes took some initiative and tried a shot Glasner had a go at him. We have some attacking talent but they are playing in a straight jacket.

Speaking about myself as a supporter, I have found it difficult to adjust my expectations from just a few months ago. From loitering around the European places, to fighting against relegation in such a short space of time. Palace were quite fortunate with other results this weekend, but we have to remember, this might not be the case every time our relegation rivals play.
I am the frustrated fat bloke, shouting from the sidelines, "Put some bloody effort in. Run you lazy players. I could have saved that !"
None of us want to end up with a make-or-break game on the final day. But is seems like that's what fate might have in store , again. 🙂

I've always been an Ollie fan but I've lost confidence after that performance, esp second half and Ollie's post match comments were pure bullsh*t - our attackers played like they'd never met let alone trained or played together. And why did we spend all that money on Johnson if he's not an out and out striker and can't play on the left? He has undoubted talent but hasn't shown any yet. Wharton and Kamada back next week and an enormous Norwegian hopefully, but the team looked affected by the toxicity behind the scenes today - I think Parrish is waiting for the moment to pull the trigger, sooner the better as far as I'm concerned.

Arse at home. That will end well. Probably take a grand for my ticket from a gooner 😳💰

I’m sure Hughes has been told not to shoot because he couldn’t hit a cow in the a*se with a banjo.
When Glasner shouted at Hughes, you saw him with his hands indicating he wanted short, sharp passing into feet and runs off the pass. That's what we lacked...movement from the front three. None of our central midfielders can shoot for toffee...Lerma is probably the best of the four...but it's also not their job...hence Glasner losing his cool when Hughes shot.

I’m sure you’re right. Dyche is a past master at setting his team up to defend so our front 3 couldn’t find space. Having said that I’d like to have seen them interchange more and drag defenders around. You do need runners from midfield to take advantage of the space though

Hmmm when have we seen a Glasner team play in that way against a low block. I can’t think of a single time we’ve played with quick movement and short, sharp passing. Now maybe that’s on the players but even then it suggests Glasner’s methods aren’t working or the players aren’t listening anymore

Yeah, I'm not sure tbh. Just stating what i saw...

We used to play that way with Eze a bit more. Bang passes into his feet...short sharp interchanges centered around him. Guess we just don't have that player right now.

Kamada is critical to us, have we won since he has been out injured?

Hopefully he is back next week. Glasner and the players look fed up. We need to get rhythm before the European games
