Mateta

The deal appears to be done with Milan. The reports suggest the hold up is getting a replacement. We might not get one, in which case the point of holding on to Mateta is what? Get him gone. Any suggestion that Glasner has a say in the matter, and is holding out, is ridiculous for the obvious reason.
If he was going to Forest I get the point of a brief delay, but there is no point with the Milan deal.

As we have Guessand we may aswell let JP go to Italy

Indeed, I think the reason we haven't submitted a written bid for JSL ( assuming the stories are true) is because the management want to believe that we have sufficient: Guessand on loan, Nketia, Uche, Sarr, Johnson & Pino, (+ maybe Kamada) to fill the front 3 places -

Glad all over that Mateta is gone. He can tuck his shirt into his shorts at the fashion capital of the World.
I predict that in August he will be at Fehebace or some other B tier Champions League squad. And still dreaming of becoming another Thierry Henry on the World Stage.

Mateta must have been given permission to travel to Milan to agree his part of the deal, but the story this morning (if true) is that Palace will not sanction the deal until the fee and payment structure is agreed and Palace have a replacement .

With regard to our current resources it's true that we have forward options but none are a traditional no 9 like Mateta, and if we are to rely on current resources it would require a change in the way we play.
That may be no bad thing if we display more pace and mobility up front, but I do have a concern of the lack of link up play, physical power and regular goalscoring.

for sure -
However, to put yourself in SP shoes for a second - Would you spend 50 million on JSL now, in the hope that it will propel us a few places up the table, maybe prolong our European adventure a few weeks, or do you decide that we are safe from relegation for this season (or we will become a reasonable bet to become safe, ish) & write off the rest of the season + make that 50 million available (or some of it) to a new manager in the summer / deal with replacements for outgoings ?

I that is his thinking then today’s match is even more important. Beat Forest and we can be pretty certain we will move well clear of the bottom three. Lose and we’re right in it. Sunday may influence what happens on Monday?

Read an article in today’s sun, Glasner saying that Palace fans should respect what JPM has done for the club, even though he wants to leave.
Sounds like he’s talking about how he wants to be remembered , not Mateta.

You can have fond memories of someone and still think that they finished there time with us as a c*nt.

Which applies to Mateta and Glasner.

Shades of Ian Wright.

Kevin Miller got the worst stick I can remember as an ex player.
Hopefully JPM does come back with Milan as it means we’ve got another tour of Europe next year.

He will be the most hated ex player, no chance of ever playing for Palace, wouldn't like to be Mateta if he fails his medical, oops.
