Mateta

If there’s the slightest chance of Mateta going to Forest before the close of the window I can’t see even a remote possibility of him starting for us on Sunday.
To play for us on Sunday and then join them on Monday would be bizarre as he could not be in the right frame of mind to play against them in a potential relegation battle when he knows he’s going to join them on the following day.

I don’t think we’ll be getting anybody in before the last day of the window so we could be in for another last day Parish special - hopefully more inspiring than the summer when moves for Julia and Salomon fell through and Uche came in on some strange loan/purchase deal where we seem terrified of playing him in case we actually have to buy him.

I'm sure Steve will tell Oliver that he's been sold on Saturday and therefore won't be available for the game

The situation we find ourselves in is pure satire

You may not be too far from the truth there mate. Rumours are he's turned down 3 moves because he doesn't want to leave London & Chelsea are working on a 'solution' for him, go figure.
Providing Chelsea pay most of his salary, I’d take him, although has WH written all over it.
Winging it podcast seem think we will get a Chelsea CB on loan and we are obsessed with Strand Larsen. Will only go for him if we sell JP, although may try for loan with obligation

SSN reports he has left Chelsea by mutual consent.

Oliver Glasner, post match presser:

"You know, it's just impossible being myself. I mean, Steve Parish told me this morning that JP is being sold and I couldn't pick him for today's game. Ok I said, why am I not surprised! No worries, I'll start with Christianus in his place. And do you know what he said? He said I couldn't start him, because he doesn't want to exceed the loan terms for Christianus meaning the club would have to purchase him. I mean, what am I to do? If I hadn't already told him that I wasn't renewing my contract and leaving at the end of the season I would have walked out! As it is I'll be back in training with the players because we have a big match against Brighton coming up next. Hopefully Steve can sack me after that game!"

Think that you'll find that no sane manager would put up with this treatment.

With Nketiah being unavailable JP is virtually undroppable. As for changing his role - to what exactly ?

There has been talk around managing a knee issue that he has. I think another factor is that he's having to put in a 90 minute shift every week whereas last season he was regularly subbed and rarely completed a whole game.
He had his knee issue for ages. The cynic in me thinks he didn’t have 6 weeks off for the op and rehabilitation as the camera was off him. Maybe he thought we would be top six and in the knockouts in Europe. So big bucks and a move away. If he had scored more chances we would be so suck it up JPM you misfired and misread the situation.
