I think that was always more true than not.

But the US political system became a gerontocracy, where the boomers resist leaving positions that previous generations didn't occupy anywhere near as long.

They need to sort it out but obviously turkeys don't vote for Christmas.....those politicians are making so much bank via corruption.

You aren’t forcing teachers to do anything. They have a free choice to decide if they can accept the terms and conditions of the job, or not. It’s society as a whole which decides what our children are taught. Not the teachers. If society wishes for both sides of an argument to be explained then they must be. If not, they won’t.

If you want hard right politics to dominate then you have every opportunity to achieve your aim. As current trends confirm.

I wonder how many teachers with Islamic faith have been ostracised for not wanting to accept the schools values on homosexuality…

I knew teachers at a particular school who were/are Muslims.

One in science and one in IT.....thankfully in IT/computing there wasn't a political aspect.

I quite liked both of them, Iranians as it happens, quite western but still very much Islamic.

However, in science, you have topics like evolution, lessons for which this particular teacher wasn't allowed to teach by the head of year as he openly disagreed with the textbook....a decision I think was justified.

Necessary in my view but not ideal.

I agree that the decision was probably correct but I am suspicious that a Christian teacher objecting to the same topic maybe ‘would be expected’ to leave.

I agree I would suspect that too.

There is a cultural and legal slant (awful law) towards 'protected classes' and they are given more leeway in many ways within the tick box culture we reside in.

I doubt it. Good teachers are valued so if a workaround can be found that doesn’t compromise either the school’s obligations or the teacher’s personal beliefs then it will be found.

If they were a poor teacher, whatever their faith, it might be a convenient way to separate without embarrassment.

Regardless, politics....especially in the humanities often makes its way into lessons, dependent upon the teacher and the school ethos.

Regardless, political action within jobs that aren't political in nature, should be frowned upon as part of work culture.....but we live in the real world, not a fantasy.

I no more want to see left wing politics taught in schools than I do right. All the humanities must be taught objectively and neutrally, but especially politics and religion. You teach about these things. You don’t teach these things.

If politics, or religious belief, is allowed to creep in and colour the teaching it must be ruthlessly stamped out. That applies to every school, every faith, every political belief.

Ofsted being the vehicle to identify problems. We have ignored this issue for far too long.

The ones protesting are other illegals and the woke leftie liberal ‘rent a mob’ that one day will be on a pro Palestinian march and the next day will be demonstrating against the detention and deportation of illegal immigrants, many of whom have committed further felony crimes in the US. They’ll be the same ones here in the UK protesting about the use of ‘Facial Recognition’…because it’s very effective and catches criminals! The ones who want to ruin it for the rest of us.
