Mateta

comparing Mateta with the performances of Brian Bobbery and as seen in the Sunderland game, Mateta was/is currently not as good in all aspects of centre forward play. He needs to step back up or move on.

Glasner indicated that Mateta will play tomorrow.
With that in mind the question is who plays either side of him.
My choice would be Sarr and Johnson to provide some pace and impetus to get behind the Chelsea defence.
I also think James (if starting)will eat Pino for breakfast should he come up against him on our left side.
However, I expect Glasner to start Pino with Sarr and Johnson competing for the other place.

It looks like we may be out of the bidding for Strand Larsen.
It will be interesting to see what the club does if a suitable bid comes in for Mateta.
I wonder if it would be similar to the Guehi and Eze scenarios where players are let go without a replacement in place.
I know some say the club isn't in a position to buy until we sell, but I have another take.
If we did sell Mateta for e.g £35 million and we approached a club for a player to replace Mateta it may well be that player becomes expensive as the selling club know we are desperate and have funds for a replacement.
If he does that I would imagine there will be noise.

On the other hand, if we buy a replacement before we sell Mateta then everyone will know we need to sell Mateta and will make lower bids than they might have otherwise. Key as always is to plan ahead, which we never do and constantly fall foul of this trap.

Mateta is thinking of his next club, couldn't care a less if he scored or not, would never play for Palace again if it was my decision.

I for one am absolutely sick and tired of carrying this passenger. That one on one with keeper in first half sums him up.
Take anything for him and spend it on anything with mobility and willingness.
French team for World Cup ? He seriously is either having a laugh or is deluded..

and breathe….

Whilst no one is blameless in this fiasco, I believe it really starts with JP.

His inability to run, head, hold up the ball or kick it has put us on the back foot for months.

Uche is definitely not the answer so Sarr needs to take that role. We need someone that can get a shot away if given a free run at goal.

I think thats somewhere along the lines of what Wilf said .

But yes ,if we are going to be in scrap for our very existence as a Premier league club which seems to be closing in on us then I don't want to be relying on anyone that wants out .
