Next Manager?

I would rather have Southgate than, Silva or Lampard, i know its abit like wanting toothache or earache, there must be a better option somewhere. the most disappointed i have been when a manager left was 1, Freedman and 2, Pulis.

I don’t get the negativity towards Lampard. Ok , he’s got a bit to prove at Premier League level - but he did ok with the Chelsea team he had under the transfer embargo and kept a rubbish Everton team in the Premier League under pretty difficult circumstances. He did a good job at Derby (narrowly missing out on promotion) and the same can be said of last season when he took a pretty average Coventry team to the playoffs. This season he’s been given some backing and Coventry look odds on to win the Championship .

I think he is widely respected by current players for what he achieved as a player himself- which MAY be of value in attracting players to the club.

I have seen a bit of Coventry this season and the play some good stuff.

I’m not saying Lampard would be my first choice - just that I don’t understand why anyone would see him as the worst option out there.

whoever is named as Palace manager will have my 100% backing, for at least 3 months, does anyone think that Parish knows who the next manager is, and is negotiating with him, on transfers, staff etc, or is it time for my medication. 😎

Probably time to take some meds Lanzo. 😉
The fact the Parish favours keeping Glasner until the end of the season suggests his number one choice is probably already in a job. I’m hoping this might point towards Andoni Iraola……and hopefully removes the possibility of Southgate (your negativity towards him I totally get btw!)

Part of the reason may be that (apparently) he wasn't interested in us when approached when we ended up with Vieira. I may be wrong.

Although the other version of that section of our history has SP being impressed by Lampard but preferring Viera. To be fair Viera did have us playing some decent stuff- and could himself have taken us to our first FA cup had we been allowed to play Gallagher.

The average longevity of an EPL coach is around 2 years, just slightly less than the NFL for comparison. So whoever comes, will be "passing through" - it is a strange business model, but one that endures it seems. Arteta and Guardiola will skew the numbers, so in actuality you could say for most team is is less than 2 years...... something Steve Parish is acutely aware of. In business terms, it is a very expensive exercise hiring top talent every 2 years; if only we could break the cycle and hold on to someone for longer?

Sorry, but Southgate will be the death knell for our PL status. I’d rather take a gamble on Frank.

Bordelas favourite? This could be fun.

"Anti-football", also known colloquially as haramball or football terrorism, is a playing style in association football that emphasises a highly defensive and aggressive approach, relying mainly on passing and involving the deployment of all team members except the striker behind the ball.

Who ever it needs to be someone patient with the academy and using some untried or at least half decent players. AWB , Mitchell, zaha all thrown in the deep end and swam. Made mistakes but in the end with time came through. That’s the future as we can’t afford to keep buying PL ready players.

After Dougie left we got Holloway who transformed us and got us to the promised land. Meanwhile the Bolton side he left us for because he thought they had more chance of going up went precisely nowhere and has continued to slip downhill ever since.

He was much better as a DOF than as manager.

I thought I was coping well with the turmoil and disappointment at Palace following our fantastic FA cup and Charity Shield win but I think the mention of Frank Lampard or Gareth Southgate as Palace managers has finally pushed me over the edge 😩

Holloway didn't transform us, he took over freedmans team that were flying and nailed on for top to a team that just about scraped into the play offs, then was completely out of his depth in the prem

At least he knew he was out of his depth. Had the honesty to tell the board he needed to be replaced. Fantastic man manager though and gave highly entertaining interviews.
