Nah I don't think so, in fact if anything I think it shows that we were supporting bringing in people that he wanted even though he said he was leaving. As I recall Johnstone only agreed to come here after talking to Glasner, so no doubt he was keen to bring him in.

And if that is what he wants the board will do the opposite.

Yup, and he will be reminded as such on the obligations. And of course when players return he will need to getting the side back to winning or he will destroy his CV. Parish is going to play him, Glasner doesn't know who he's dealing with. Also, he whinged about his bench, but Sunderland only used 2 subs themselves - a left back and a 20 year old forward. Hardly the players who are going to finish you off.

I have sympathy to a point but it's not like CPFC didn't spend any money, we did. The truth is that there aren't players like Olise, Eze and Guehi hanging around everywhere waiting to be picked up by us, it's not possible to replace them like for like. We can only have a go and hope we get it right.

So we picked up a few, let's have a look.

Pinot - Spanish international. Glasner plays him constantly but he's lightweight and that's on display
Uche - 22 years old, has hardly played and has played out of position, most games a late sub. I think the lad has loads more in him, and he's outscored Pino per minute significantly, his last goal very classy indeed.
Esse - A kid. Great feet, we know he's not been developed by Glasner, quite the opposite.
Canvot - He gets some stick but he can play, and he's very young
Sosa - IMO he's not good enough.
Benitez - He's a great backup. Glasner has 2 top drawer keepers.

Johnson - record signing.

I also think there are some promising kids there, Kaden Rodney and Drakes-Thomas have been impressive.

He also relies on Devenney who is a worker but not exactly a player we all think is going to turn a game. Devenney is garbage on the right imvho. We have several out and due to return including Daichi "Teachers Pet" Kamada.

I ain't that worried. I'm more bothered about winning the Conference League.

We did. Chadi Riad was bought in anticipation that Guehi would not sign a new contract. It’s only unfortunate that he was injured for so long. The Club may well have taken the view that after the outing with the U21s he would soon be back to full fitness. In addition after Canvot’s MOTM performance (fans vote) Guehi’s importance to the squad diminished and £20m plus add-ons would help going forward.

What I also think has not helped is OGs insistence with chasing all four competitors with the same group of first team players. Last season Liverpool with their large resources decided to prioritise the League and play a mainly reserve/junior side in the FA Cup against Plymouth. They lost 1-0 but became champions.
 
Glasner should stay away from interviews after getting beaten. It’s not the first tantrum he’s thrown. He’s been economical with the truth all season. “We’ll discuss my contract situation in January” “I told Steve in October I was leaving””It’s got nothing to do with lack of signings” “ They’ve failed to back me”.
He’s been a great coach but he’s petulant and moody, always has been and always will be. He hates to lose but can’t accept responsibility when he does.

My sense is that he was doing an Amorin/Maresca yesterday and expects to be sacked tomorrow. If the latest rumours are true that Parish intends keeping him then good for him. He doesn’t get to drop us in the sh*t then f*ck off. No subs yesterday was typical Glasner. Parish may have made mistakes in terms of sales and signings but Glasner had failed to do his job in managing the squad and fixtures. I don’t buy the BS about speaking out to protect his players. The only person he was protecting was Oliver Glasner.

Parish should press on with identifying his replacement and when he does, if that man is free to take over before the end of the season thank Glasner for his contribution and send him on his way. If not keep him until the end of the season. Don’t be pushed into sacking him and appointing an interim coach til the summer.
 
Glasner knew he was on his way and I suspect that he knew that if someone offered X then it was a done deal.
Olise wanted to leave, Guehi wanted to leave, Eze wanted to leave and when that happens you have to get the highest price that you can.
Who was responsible for the summer buys?
If Glasner wanted them, then his judgement is poor and so he needs some of the blame.
He has been amazing for us and then ruined it in a 5 minute diatribe and I hope he leaves tomorrow.
He has dissed the players, failed to even try and integrate the new players, and been rigid in his system regardless of the circumstances.
I thank him for the FA Cup - a moment in my long time of supporting Palace that I will never forget - but he is not bigger than CPFC - end of!
 
I think as they say at funerals , This is a time for reflection rather than further controversy and disruption .
4 weeks from now fans will wonder what the fuss was all about .
Can still achieve our highest Premiership finish and Win the Conference cup , Plenty to play for .

The broader point Glasner was making was why couldn't the club wait another week or so until other players were back?
City still would have wanted Guehi.

Sure, Glasner has made mistakes and has to bear some responsibility for our current poor run.
But he can't be expected to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse.

Yesterday yet again we fielded a weak bench this time comprising two keepers, several untried youngsters and a couple of hastily patched up players and a recalled loan player.
This after 14 years in the Premier League.
Glasner is no more to blame for this when he was when we were thrashed at home by Fulham and we fielded a midfield of Guehi and a debuting Devenny.
Every team we face has a stronger bench than us and we knew we faced a 60 plus game season when we knew we were in Europe.
Is he to blame for us having a weaker squad now than when he joined ?

I'm not seeking to change anybody's opinion, but I think criticism of him should at least be fair and have some balance.

The point I forgot to comment on. How, Oliver, are you protecting players and lauding them when you equally said that they are no good to the point that you wanted the board to back you by replacing them? Where's the logic?

Is he not that smart?

Exactly, this is why he is angry. Would have been useful to involve him in negotiations as well. The top clubs all do.

It is fair to say our squad lacks depth and at some point our form would dip. I agree with you there. I didn’t expect us to be taking 15 points from the last 7 league games or anything like that. It was never going to be easy and in that it is fair to say OG can’t be expected to have maintained the same form.

Nor did I expect us to only take 2 points. That’s just not good enough and during that time OG has shown he doesn’t have a plan B.

We also surely had enough to beat a team of semi pros instead we were out competed and deservedly beaten.

So yes the squad lacks depth but OG is seeking to create a narrative that it’s all about transfers, while chucking the squad players under the bus by telling them they are rubbish.

No they don’t. Almost all the top clubs have a manager who manages and then directors of football who do all the work on transfers and negotiations.

In fact Man Utd and Chelsea (big clubs if not ‘top clubs’) just made it very clear who runs the show on transfers and it ain’t the manager

It was more like plan number 5 at that point, and yes of course he had a fifth plan but you hope not to be forced by your own club into using it when it’s not necessary. He will now have to use that plan five every game until Mateta goes to Juve and he has to use plan 6 every game.

We don’t have enough players to keep doing this.

Re your last paragraph, has he thrown them under the bus?

If he did, I haven't heard that.

What I did hear him say is that he wanted to protect the younger players on the bench (i.e presumably not expose them to the current predicament), that it felt unreasonable to have to rely on only 13 first team players some of whom have already had to play 35 games, and that these players and given everything on the field and weren't being adequately supported
Others will see this as an attempt by him to shift blame, but I can't disagree with the the points he made

So he was helpless and couldn’t do anything? Taking out Sarr and Munoz means we can’t compete with Macclesfield? In that case we should definitely get rid of him as clearly the manager has no impact. Might as well save ourselves £4m a year.

As I say I didn’t expect this period to be easy but let’s not pretend OG is blameless here either from what we are seeing on the pitch or off it.
