Last season we did brilliantly. We sold our best player in Olise and one of our most important players (at the time) in Andersen. We replaced both with players who were cheaper (Sarr and Lacroix) and ended up winning our first ever major trophy and doing pretty well in the League.
Before last season we managed to sign Olise, Eze, Wharton, Munoz, Guehi, Henderson all at what have turned out to be good fees.
If we are going to criticise the club for this season’s summer window then we have to give praise where it is due for all the good work as well.
As for losing the confidence of our coach I just don’t buy it. He was never going to stay beyond his initial contract and I think that was the case from the moment he walked through the door. Yesterday looks to me like an attempt to manage the narrative and deflect from the awfulness of our current form, nothing more. He has history here with prior clubs.
