Parish Out

Overall the job Parish has done as chairman has been exceptional, he's by far the clubs most successful chairman and tbh not many have done a better job at other clubs during his tenure, we're one of the best run clubs in the country, he's financially stringent, is a supporter, has the clubs longterm and best interests at heart. Theres no one else id rather have running the club.

The disappointing thing for me, is at a club of our size, its all about timing, you build a squad over 2 to 3 years, know when to back the manager, make a calculated risk when the odds are in your favour and aggressively attack the market financially, showing real ambition and intent for the forthcoming season. We've been in a position a couple of times where we could have done that over the last 10 years and have chosen not to.

If you're not gonna back a manager who's delivered a trophy, European football and your best points total in the prem, then you never will.

It's not a question of Parish being 'booted out' as the structure does not apparently provide for that.
However, I am wondering if Parish still has the energy, enthusiasm and determination to continue in his current role. He must be constantly spinning plates between the day to day running of the club and the big American investors and their limited roles in our future structure. To me he looks defeated.
I would question his ability and strength to push for the fans ambitions which is largely about shareholders putting in more money to take us to a higher level. Im wondering if we may see him sell a large tranche of his shares and take more of an advisory role while handing over the day to day issues and fundamental structure to a younger more energised group of directors. A bit like Liverpool have done.
We lost our Director of football last season and our Managing Director (who has subsequently returned).
There is a lot to be addressed that is clearly not being closely attended to. The biggest issue undoubtedly being senior player contracts and terms, and overall structure re squad size, aspiration of success etc. etc. On top of this there are the issues of the stadium and general future plans and financial structure being addressed to manage future growth.
We are clearly way adrift on most if not all of this as has been clearly exposed over the past few months.
Yesterday it reached a head with Glasner's post match meltdown exposing some of the above.
Although I feel Glasner has handled his personal position very badly, he nevertheless has exposed some alarming issues which has prompted me to write the above.
In the short term I am struggling to see how on earth Glasner can stay in post unless there is a massive overhaul or even a takeover in the imminent future. More likely, he will have to leave and then the club really needs to address these issues if it has any real ambition to move on upwards.
As we are today, we are in a real mess. I really fail to see the point of Glaner's outburst as he had already announced his departure. In no way can that have helped him if his future plan is to move to a much bigger club.
All very odd and also very concerning..

Glasner not subtle at all in the way he expressed things yesterday, but say what you what like, Parish carries again a large slice of blame for this - £65m for Eze last summer before the biggest season we have ever had & the chance to create a bit of a legacy ?? No, usual low cost window. Not surprised he’s pissed off.
Parish, let’s spend in January instead !, genius ! Palace is too big for him.

Steve Parish has done an amazing job with passion and limited money, but can we ever escape this financial rut. We have a new stand to build and don't seem to get investment on a scale of a few to PL clubs. Marc Guehi was the most complete CB I have ever seen at Selhurst, but he held all the cards and if we couldn't stop him leaving now then £20m seems good business.

Fair points and very well said/written..!!

For me having watched Glasner's post match interview he's only echoing what a lot of supporters feel and are thinking..

In that why was it necessary to sell Guehi the day before a game - he couldn't play for City so why the rush..?? He could have played for us yesterday and signed for City today - it just doesn't make any sense and is baffling in terms of strategic planning..!!

As Glasner said Parish did exactly the same with Eze..!!

Can you imagine Glasner's frustration - he's worked with a thread bare squad all week planning for Sunderland - then 24 hours before the game the rug gets pulled from under his feet and Parish decides to sell our Captain with no communication or discussion. So I fully understand and agree with Glasner's exasperation and frustration.

Most concerning is that lack of communication between Parish and Glasner - suggests Parish is doing what he wants without consideration of Glasner or current position of the squad.

So who does Parish talk to - Mark Bright - if so really..!!

If I'm Blitzer, Harris and Johnson I'm flying in for emergency talks with Parish to discuss the way he is running the club - because from the outside all the momentum and progress of last season is being destroyed by Parish, placing their investment at risk.

I would be asking what his plans and strategy is/are to get things back on track - if I don't like what I hear in terms of transfer strategy etc.. Then I'd be looking to relieve him of his duties.

Because at the moment from the outside Parish appears to be running the club into the ground..!!

Any new replacement for parish will have the same issues and same restraints I guess? As numerous posters have said we arnt a "top 6 club" we have to spend within our means.

As with any manager/coach employed by Parish for that role at this club. We, the supporters of this club, do not know what was said and promised, or not said or promised, behind closed doors, to any of those managers/coaches that Parish has employed over the years. We have to remember that sometimes employers tell a few porkies to make what they are about to offer a prospective employee, let's say, a little bit more attractive.

We have owners with the exception of Parish - worth north of £16Bn..!!??

Other clubs do it - why don't/can't we..??

Why - Parish isn't in the same league as the others financially - and that is the root of the problem..!!

I mean....so I'm sure there are rules that a club can't spend more money than it generates? Gate receipts, tv revenue, player sales, sponsorship deals. The premier league have their own rules and then I believe so does UEFA? And we have to toe the line between them both.

That's why there have been recent fines and point deductions for teams.

Disagree - other clubs manage to find imaginative ways around it - that's just a Parish answer..!!

Yes, unless they are a billionaire who is willing to lose a fortune. Even then we won’t see the benefit on the pitch over night. They would need to replace a stand or two to comply with spending rules? Or break the rules and spend a fortune on lawyers I guess.

Anyone got a few hundred million to change the current arrangement?

No? Oh well then, same as.

It's all very well being flippant - but we clearly had £35M that could have been spent in the summer on squad depth - but Parish chose not to do it - in fact we were in profit from summer window dealings - so nowhere near breaching FFP.

If that had been invested then on squad depth - we would not be in this position..!!

But Parish as in other seasons decided not to - and again panic bought in January when our backs were against the wall and it was all too late..!!

Is it because the risk of injury ? same situation with EZE .
Man City say here’s 20 mill we want him now not injured on Monday .

If I were Parish today, I would not be signing any contract to commence work on the new stand as yet.
Why on earth would we do that?

The new stand is part of our future success. To postpone it again would be insane. It is a minimum requirement.

Turning on Parish is idiotic in my view.

When he took over our bad season was "we might go bust or get relegated to league one". Now our bad season is "we've made a shocking defence of the FA Cup, are making hard work of Europe and have lost a couple of our England internationals".

Let's try to regain some perspective. Yes we all want more investment but Glasner does this routine at every club. We haven't got the money at the moment to spend 200m but the club remains on an overall upward curve, we have some brilliant players and are financially healthy so will have a Premier League club to support next season.

Sorry but for me, there is no way he didn't know about Guehi going. It may have of only been confirmed at 10.30 but Guehi would of known, and therefore he would of known discussions were happening.

Also, not making a single sub to make a point was disgusting. He wanted to be sacked.
