It's not a question of Parish being 'booted out' as the structure does not apparently provide for that.
However, I am wondering if Parish still has the energy, enthusiasm and determination to continue in his current role. He must be constantly spinning plates between the day to day running of the club and the big American investors and their limited roles in our future structure. To me he looks defeated.
I would question his ability and strength to push for the fans ambitions which is largely about shareholders putting in more money to take us to a higher level. Im wondering if we may see him sell a large tranche of his shares and take more of an advisory role while handing over the day to day issues and fundamental structure to a younger more energised group of directors. A bit like Liverpool have done.
We lost our Director of football last season and our Managing Director (who has subsequently returned).
There is a lot to be addressed that is clearly not being closely attended to. The biggest issue undoubtedly being senior player contracts and terms, and overall structure re squad size, aspiration of success etc. etc. On top of this there are the issues of the stadium and general future plans and financial structure being addressed to manage future growth.
We are clearly way adrift on most if not all of this as has been clearly exposed over the past few months.
Yesterday it reached a head with Glasner's post match meltdown exposing some of the above.
Although I feel Glasner has handled his personal position very badly, he nevertheless has exposed some alarming issues which has prompted me to write the above.
In the short term I am struggling to see how on earth Glasner can stay in post unless there is a massive overhaul or even a takeover in the imminent future. More likely, he will have to leave and then the club really needs to address these issues if it has any real ambition to move on upwards.
As we are today, we are in a real mess. I really fail to see the point of Glaner's outburst as he had already announced his departure. In no way can that have helped him if his future plan is to move to a much bigger club.
All very odd and also very concerning..
Fair points and very well said/written..!!
For me having watched Glasner's post match interview he's only echoing what a lot of supporters feel and are thinking..
In that why was it necessary to sell Guehi the day before a game - he couldn't play for City so why the rush..?? He could have played for us yesterday and signed for City today - it just doesn't make any sense and is baffling in terms of strategic planning..!!
As Glasner said Parish did exactly the same with Eze..!!
Can you imagine Glasner's frustration - he's worked with a thread bare squad all week planning for Sunderland - then 24 hours before the game the rug gets pulled from under his feet and Parish decides to sell our Captain with no communication or discussion. So I fully understand and agree with Glasner's exasperation and frustration.
Most concerning is that lack of communication between Parish and Glasner - suggests Parish is doing what he wants without consideration of Glasner or current position of the squad.
So who does Parish talk to - Mark Bright - if so really..!!
If I'm Blitzer, Harris and Johnson I'm flying in for emergency talks with Parish to discuss the way he is running the club - because from the outside all the momentum and progress of last season is being destroyed by Parish, placing their investment at risk.
I would be asking what his plans and strategy is/are to get things back on track - if I don't like what I hear in terms of transfer strategy etc.. Then I'd be looking to relieve him of his duties.
Because at the moment from the outside Parish appears to be running the club into the ground..!!
