Farewell Eze?

At his age he should be entering into his prime. Which he won't do by warming the bench at Arsenal.

I do suspect that he knew this could be a possibility when he signed for them.

And he'd rather do that than play for Spurs every week !

It is a good example to highlight the state of the sport at the moment - Arsenal spend nearly £70m on Eze and within weeks he’s resigned to the bench. That’s not a criticism of the player, but a reminder of how broken the financial balance is.

For us, £70m is a fee I can't even imagine us spending. For the elite, it’s just some optional depth.

The other side of the coin is that the selling club gets an inflated sum for a player not worth half the amount, and the merry go round continues.

And it will only get worse.
I'm old enough to remember when gate revenues were shared between home and away teams, when tv revenues were more equally distributed, when the likes of Ipswich and Burnley could challenge at the top.
I'm sure the American owners in the Premier League would like to cancel relegation and have guaranteed CL entry.

You can understand why clubs like Villa and Newcastle get frustrated at being hamstrung financially, when Arsenal and Man City spend £60+ million on backup players. You want to see players like Eze playing football, because they're box office. As a neutral, you don't want to see a team perform 400 passes for fear that taking a shot might concede possession. Entertainment is increasingly being squeezed out of the game and it's pretty miserable. I'm still hoping Villa win the league just because it would be hilarious to see Pep and Arteta ranting about how it's all so unfair (despite spending a billion pounds on squad building).

I’d say that’s a definite, he could carry on warming arsenals bench and end up with four medals this season

He seems to have a strange outlook, very religious, but went for the money, seems to lack motivation, he has all the talent but seems not the attitude, a shame, wasted talent.

I want Eze to do well and don't blame him for taking his chance but this was always going to be a risk.

With us we accepted the patches of quiet form because of how impactful for us he was when he played well. For a title challenger, that isn't accepted. Would say the same for Glasner if he decides to leave, it takes a while for him to get his methods across and that just won't tolerated somewhere like United.

It's a pity because if Eze had stayed, the difference in quality between him and Pino (so far) would have been worth points for us, we'd definitely be higher up the league.

Can't knock Eze for going. Footballers careers are short. He could have resented us if he stayed a bit like wilf did.

He can give it a year or so and when / if it doesn't work out he can always comeback or probably go to Aston villa...

Always best to give it a shot and if it doesn't work out at least you can say you tried.

Sure he was always a second half of the season kind of player anyway 😃

What a waste of talent.
Modern day game for you.
It will be interesting to see if he makes the squad for USA which is where my interests lie with Eze now.
Unless he starts getting more game time, I would doubt it.

Yep, the WC place seems the biggest waste of it all to me - I can get the argument that he'll win some medals and earn a bit more at Arsenal, but it was an enormous risk in a WC year, and as things stand I don't think he's going...

Morgan Rogers didn't move this summer, remains his team's talisman, and now looks the much better pick for Tuchel.

Absolutely, it’s easy to manage and to buy and sell your investment if your income is regularised. You can virtually guarantee that is exactly what the globalist owners are asking for. I suppose the proposed breakaway league was the first (failed) attempt to try and do this.

I dont have a issue with arsenal they was already a big club like Man utd and Liverpool , but Man city and Chelsea brought the titles without the money they would have been on par with the Villas and spuds and Newcastle , what I find funny the really poor players arsenal have brought in the past who wouldn't even get in macclesfields team lol

Now I am not saying Eze doesn’t care about the World Cup but I suspect that if you offered 100 professional footballers the choice of getting into a World Cup squad or doubling their wages you would find plenty who would pick the second option.

The next wc Eze will be 32. This could have been his only chance to play in a world cup 😯

He's playing for his dream team... as a fan.. he's reached peak... he can tick off a lot of boxes this one season alone.... he'll stay for two seasons... taste it.. then move on...

He got a hat trick against spurs... the only modern player to do that..

If I was a footballer and I had the chance to play for palace... warm their bench and have a go as they challenge all competitions... it's a no brainer...

You would like to think that Eze had anticipated going to Arsenal would jeopardise his England place for the World Cup, yet here we are. Unless a player is in that first 11 week in week out they lose that sharpness that catapults them into the England team.

It’s a shame for him and what a waste….

He's a smart enough guy to have considered that. But chances to join your team might not come around again. So suspect he had to make the move and trust in his ability.

Odegaard gets injured and he's back in the team. And in that team will likey score a few, which might get him a wildcard place on the plane.

Talented and scored the goal that won us the cup, but always thought he was lazy and disappeared in games for long periods. His last few months with us was definitely his best

To be a fan of Arsenal as a kid and become a member of their academy must have been incredible for young Ebs, while subsequently being rejected as not quite good enough would have hurt and motivated him to prove them wrong. Going back to his boyhood club for a huge fee was I’m sure completing a personal journey in his eyes and he is probably still enjoying the fact that he made it. However he may one day come to realise that he has come full circle in being considered not quite good enough for the first team. I hope I am wrong and he becomes their regular number 10 but the signs aren’t good.
