Winter Transfer Window 2026

Really hoping we start hearing some movements for a RB/rwb. For me it was the highest priority to get in early this window as the lack of an attacking option down the right flank is absolutely killing our play.

With Clyne now injured we unbelievably have 4 injuries at RB! Unless Glasner intends to use Sarr as an RB then we need someone in sharpish.

Devenny did well at RWB when he came on against Newcastle

We really do need more quality players center mid is really lacking for attacking/shooting side of the game.

Got to bring in a right wing back.

Not sure what the hold up is why we have not done more.

We can't keep waiting and we have had 2 more go out with only 1 coming in.

Look at tonight bench that is not acceptable.

We’re safe in the league due to the total dross in the bottom three, players will come back for the important Cup games, uncertainty over OG going and when, Parish hates spending money. I sadly wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t buy anyone else.

Zakaria El Ouahdi looks like a good replacement /cover for Munoz he plays several positions and scores freely and only 24 years old.
He’d be ideal in my book. A goal scoring CM (CG) and a decent replacement for JP (who desperately needs a rest) and I reckon OG would be pretty happy with his squad.
If we could get rid of Borna and replace him that would be a bonus - he’s just not fast or physical enough for the premier league.

Glasner spoke post match about perhaps 'adding one or two' in January in a broader context about unavailable players returning later in the month.
It wouldn't surprise me if the 'one' was a RWB - probably just at the time Munoz is fit again!
Anything more could depend on moves for Guehi and JPM, which look unlikely at this stage.
Of course there's the possibility of a loan or a last minute addition depending upon the market at the end of the window.
I don't see the young French centre forward joining unless Nketiah departs.

No he doesn't. He's fettered by limited resources and financial rules.

This is what we nearly always lack though - forward planning. We always have at least one position, usually more, where we have only one decent player. I thought we might have started to change when we bought Sosa and Canvot. But we then left ourselves with other positions with obvious back up issues. As for any type of natural succession to positions, well the academy players have either been untrusted, not used or not good enough. And we haven't exactly brought in youngsters to take over older or sold player's places in a season or two. For Munoz and Mateta, for example - both could leave in the summer. We're then buying just one again who has to go straight in and perform and it all starts again. And when they get injured or don't work out/ hit a sticky patch - we have no one and have to react mid season as we are all over again now. It's pretty much deja vu. The left back one over the years was the most glaring. We've been massively lucky Mitchell is basically never injured or banned. Has to be one of the fittest and most consistent we've ever had and near the top of players in the league. Unsung springs to mind. Remember the one in the car crash (Souare or whatever his name was). What was it? No left back until PVA in the January. Where were forced to spend again.
Forward planning/ succession planning would have dealt with this. It wouldn't always work but it has to be the way. My opinion is you need two decent players in every position. That's 22. Then 3 other players who can cover injuries with some youngsters when you need them. The caveat is that rotation is needed, however, or you end up with Esse. Who looked good on his debut but didn't get much of a look in for a good while. Makes it pointless buying them if you don't try them. As many and myself have said, there was no guarantee when we brought in AWB. He was not massively outstanding at youth level. Yet he worked straight away. Others who shine at youth level clearly don't work. It's a difficult process but I think you can quite quickly see if it's a player who will hack it. I think we've seen a couple this season and I hope and trust Glasner noticed. Drakes-Thomas, Benamar and King look like they have something about them. I'm not saying play them all (although I would against Macclesfield) but they should start getting on the pitch at 60 mins.
We have quite a lot of older players when you look at it. We're storing up future issues if we don't act preemptively and get promising players in even when we have a no. 1 in a position. Plus, that clearly creates competition and negates favouritism towards certain players. Mateta and Pino should be dropped right now on current form. They should get their form back in reserves games and our back ups should get a chance. We can't do it for the obvious reason we don't have the back up.
