It's annoying if anyone tries to claim that what Raul Moat did represented what the 'far right' is about. In reality they are just claiming that anyone rejecting leftism/social liberalism is 'far right', when it's just dishonest or ignorant. That guy murdered his former girlfriend and new boyfriend, and then shot and blinded a Policeman sitting in a car who commits suicide two years later.

The guy's an evil fecking murderer prepared to murder people who had done him no harm. He's another statistic born of a broken home and a mother with mental health problems but most importantly in his case the lack of a father ...something that social conservativism would have fought against but social liberalism embraced.

Nothing I've seen indicates he held far-right political views or affiliations. His actions appear to stem from personal grievances, jealousy, anti-police sentiment, and mental health issues taken to the extreme rather than any ideological or political motivations.

They trot out the numbers that x number of calls relate to the far right and so we should be massively concerned.

Question. How many of these calls are from left wing teachers and social workers? What exactly are these offenders supposed to have done? Are they really potential terrorists or people who have views the left don't like.

There is a story today of a Politics teacher who was referred and then sacked for showing his pupils a Trump video. Yes a Trump video of his inauguration.

I have a politics A level, US politics is one of the main strands of it and we learnt about the whole election process and the delay in becoming President 2 months after being elected and the inauguration of course.

Evolution explains, but if you read both Darwin and Dawkins, survival for us doesn’t depend solely on biology or the need for physical survival. We survive through collective efforts to preserve and develop society.

We have evolved to find greater success by sharing tasks, through learning tolerance and inclusivity.

Very unlikely but 75% and 25% are very round numbers. Not my numbers either so I am making assumptions just as you are. My guess would be that these two are the primary concerns. I suspect anti semitism is currently another but beyond that I am struggling to think of anything too big. Animal rights and environmental protests must take up police time but I doubt the security forces are too involved.

Having stoicism is an extremely valuable personal attribute that everyone needs to acquire, especially in today’s world. No argument with that.

There is though no conflict with being stoic and also possessing the qualities of tolerance, respect for others and inclusiveness. Understanding that everyone has the right to be themselves can be enhanced by stoicism. Not destroyed by it.

Stoicism has nothing inherently connected with self reliance. That the extreme right believe it does just indicates their warped thinking.

For the stoic virtue is the sole good: Moral excellence (wisdom, justice, courage, temperance) is the path to happiness, not external things like wealth or status.
