Censorship and Social Media

For those defending the Trump administration’s attitude to the way the EU, ourselves and others are attempting to regulate social media in their territories try reading this:-

Blatant bully boy tactics is how I describe it!

Would someone care to explain why it’s not ok for countries to decide for themselves what’s permitted to be posted online. You don’t have to agree with the decision. Only their right to take it.

We don’t seek to impose our standards on the USA. We might argue that they’re wrong but not that we have any right to interfere in them. Why then does the USA try to interfere in other countries. It’s only things that are illegal when published in other ways that’s impacted with a particular emphasis on ensuring safety for children.

This is something we ought all be behind. Our space. Our standards. What those standards ought to be we can argue about.

So when we were in the EU could we decide for ourselves?

LOL you have zero awareness. They were trying to enter the USA and here you are arguing that they don't have that right.

At least one of those involved lives in the USA, holds a green card, is married to an American citizen and has an American son. Now he doesn’t know whether his family will be split up. A temporary restraint has been issued by a Judge to stop ICE knocking his door.

Were you aware of that?

Bullying people responsible for establishing the detail of policies determined by governments is symptomatic of the kind of behaviour now being constantly displayed by the current US administration.

Any Clownworld is the one they are living in!

We aren’t stopping people travelling or applying for visas. We are requiring businesses to abide by our laws in our territory.

Sounds like he wasn't integrating

I am not inside his head! Are you?

I am not speaking about individuals. I am talking generally. About the average person who felt disgusted by what Israel did to Gaza and joined in with a chant.

I sincerely believe that most would not wish to harm those conscripts expected to do the dirty work. Nor any physical harm to those deciding the policy. The latter need to face the law for war crimes.
What about what Gaza did to Israel, or is that not important to you???

What do you mean we don't impose standards on people like the US?

You must be confused ofcom has issued warnings and fines for breaches to companies that are not even UK for online safety act 2023. (A few of the US ones have already told them to F off & I remember Trump mentioning it as well)

The whole thing is straight up control and censorship this model in used in a lot of Asian countries it has nothing to do with protection. (Parents should parent & social media etc should be abiding basic laws)

If laws have been broken that is for each country to go after the people in that country or try to work something out with other countries to catch these people (But again even this is abused UK for example go after people as organized crime for stream illegal content it's BS that is civil matter not criminal police have no business being involved)

I really don't care about Visa side of things each country sets it policies and if people follow the guidelines/rules yet get rejected then that is for them to proceed with the correct action legal wise.

You don’t think marrying a local and them having a child is integration?

What more should he have done? Built a marble effigy of Trump and worshipped at it twice daily?

According to you marriages of Bradford Pakistanis to their first cousin in Pakistan, who comes over here then has 5 kids, all of whom support Pakistan in the cricket and go to a Muslim school, live in a 90% Muslim area, are integrated.

Doesn't look it to most of us, maybe the grooming gangs don't stretch as far as Cornwall
