Main Stand redevelopment thread

It's about 3 weeks to go now and I'm expecting to see the explosives being placed around the temporary away changing rooms (portakabin) 😉

Seriously. Has there been an official announcement about how the build will be done?

If they have decided to knock the old thing down, then that can't happen until the end of the season. It will reduce capacity by 5k for at least one season, maybe longer. That is quite a loss of revenue.

Hopefully we are going with our original plan. More expensive but far less disruptive.

Would be interesting to know what happens to the press and director seats. Maybe relocated to Whitehorse end boxes. As for the poor season ticket holders suppose they get left out in the cold

It doesn't seem like a good option.

I wonder how much less it would cost to knock the old stand down first.
It would have to be a substantial saving to make it worth the grief.

Unfortunately Covid and the subsequent cost increases scuppered the timescale for building the new stand and as a consequence have limited our income and ability to sign more expensive players. That in turn may result in us losing our current coach. Not ideal but better that than sliding back into bankruptcy.

Current talk is about people seeing work being done. Work behind the seenswill include getting planning permission - which is mentioned in the article. Otherwork we know about is getting the hoiuses in wooderson Close (?) empty and draining the basement of the Holmesdale of water. A good sign of progress will be the away team no longer using their existing changing room. -

Apparently there's newspaper all over the floor in the Glazier's Lounge and the groundsman has been spotted sweeping up the floor behind the turnstiles with a yard broom. So it's all systems go!!!🙂

it was mentioned in that The Omen movie...... the end of the World, the crack of Doom

- and the people of Israel returning to their homeland
- the rebuilding of the Temple
- the Rise of reborn Roman Empire
- People cannot buy nor sell without a Bank Account and the Devil's number on their head.
- A Comet in the sky
- the trumpet herald of the Arc-Angel
- the redevelopment of Selhurst

I am sure I read initially, they were going to build over the main stand first, then demolish the old stand bit by bit. The plan may of changed now, as so much has with costs and planning permission.

The increasing cost of keeping the old stand open during the build made the board reconsider the original plan.

As far as I know, there has been no announcement regarding their ultimate choice.
