Rachel Reeves

That's the wrong way to look at it. How much would it cost to fuel a car in petrol per mile? You are still making a massive saving.

The other issue is that in fuel duty the govt bring in £billions each year, as we migrate away from petrol cars that money needs to come from somewhere so it was pretty obvious this had to be introduced at some time.

Also, as you use the roads and your car is heavier surely you should contribute a bit. Your road tax is also lower than a standard car.

It is also not being introduced for a few years.
So use the money spent on green rubbish to cover the losses. Surely you know electric cars contribute greatly to lowering our emissions. Alongside if it is such an emergency TIC, money shouldn’t even be a consideration surely. I don’t rate them myself but everyone to their own. I’m allowed to spew diesel fumes out anytime I want. I pay the duty many times. Secretly I am loved by HMG. I balance the scales, know what I mean 😉

Anybody like me sick of Reeves's condensating smirk in every photo?
Bad news for me in the Budget only partly compensated by the lively and amusing response by Kemi Badenoch - she is growing on me.

Looks like she could be in trouble; the OBR have come out with info that contradicts heavily what she has told the House.
Simple truth is she is not intelligent enough to understand what OBR forecasts actually mean to the economy, she relies on her advisors who are similarly incompetent and driven by ideology.

Every consequence of her stupidity is an unseen one

Well done Rachel, rob the hardworking strivers and give to the poor.

A few questions…

How come their daughter went into care?

What mental health reasons did the husband ‘leave’ his job and how long has he been out of work/not looking for work?

Why is the mother not working either instead?

Is it in their heads that this is financially harder but we can get by without needing to work so okay then?

I know someone who had to work local and part time a few days a week because of a serious illness in the family. It was really tough. There is no longer this problem but tapering of universal credit means there isn’t enough incentive to get off it/work 5 days a week. People in manual jobs often used to work 5 and a half days a week.

Has she lied to the house?

The media claim she said there is a £30bn black hole but the OBR says there is a 4Bn surplus. You say tomato I say....

I keep receiving videos of Starmer and her repeatedly saying both before and after the election no tax rises. Her excuse is that due to unforeseen events there is a problem so it is necessary. However the OBR forecast if correct contradicts that.

Wanting to fix problems (e.g. child benefit cap) by raising more money is not the same as circumstances beyond our control. This budget is very much about what Labour wants to do rather than being forced to do by events. Most people can see that and don't appreciate being lied to.

Whether Labour really needs to lift the child cap and other measures is actually a different conversation.

I think this is her last budget.

Just ask yourself where and which demographic have more than 2 children.

Rachel Reeves delivered the budget that the PLP wanted with such a massive majority elected democratically it is only right and fitting. Socialist governments are elected to distribute money in a fair way, meaning eradication of child poverty and a strong effective NHS.

£2,500 extra on your multi million pound mansion is a mere trifle! 😆

My point still stands. She has not been truthful. It's one thing to say we are raising taxes because we want to sort these problems out. It's quite another to mislead the house over the budget numbers.

What Labour say and what they do are very opposite. Apparently they were planning for growth. How exactly? They aren’t. Now they’re lying about black holes in the finances and taxing people based on lies.

The problem they will find with this is firstly the small amount this raises, then there’s the costs of valuations, administration and objections.
Labour backbenchers will persue greater fairness whatever the obstacles. Because people don't want to pay must never be a hinderance to revenue collection.
