This 3p more than doubles the fuel costs for an electric car. I forked out for an electric car because I care about the environment and am proud to drive a vehicle with zero nasty emiissions to polute the air I currently pay less than 2p per mile for electricity for my car. This new tax is more than the cost of what is being taxed i.e car electricity! It raises it to 5p a mile . Doubling the price of electic fuel prices shows this government has totally abandonned any green pretences.I read somewhere it will be a self declared mileage rather than monitored

all parties break pledges because bizarrely the world changes and a govt has to adapt.I am delighted you are admitting that your beloved Labour has broken election pledges.
'Whataboutery' is alive and well on HOL.
Deflection from the sheer lies by Labour politicians in order to get elected and their atrocious record in Government.
England
Covid and the Ukraine War had a significant impact on the economy, this simply cannot be over-stated.all parties break pledges because bizarrely the world changes and a govt has to adapt.
When the Tories did it they could legitimately blame Ukraine and Covid but they were still broken.
Boris told us he had a great Brexit deal - surely that was lie. In fact we know he was a compulsive liar.
In 12 months who knows where we will be with Trump impacting the world economy, Russia impacting world utility prices and maybe China invading Taiwan, which is a question of when not if.
Some people need to grow up and live in the real world
The Tories made a point of breaking every manifesto pledge under Boris the Liar.Covid and the Ukraine War had a significant impact on the economy, this simply cannot be over-stated.
Labour made pledges before the election they knew they could not fulfil. It was a planned strategy just to secure an election victory.
It is a major difference being blown off course by events and the cynical actions of a party.

With respect a load of hogwash. The Tories made a point of breaking every manifesto pledge under Boris the Liar.
A pity the electorate took the opposite view and kicked them out. With respect a load of hogwash.
Boris has been derided but he was the PM during the Covid pandemic and the start of the war in Ukraine and the pressure he was under was immense.
He of course contracted Covid and was exceedingly infirm.

I fully accept that we made mistakes and lost the trust of the electorate.A pity the electorate took the opposite view and kicked them out.

You got any figures for that? I mean figures showing immigration as a direct cause of pressure.I whole-heartedly agree with the sentiments, but there are a few issues surrounding this, including some of the following
1. the birth-rate falling and people living longer means we have a much higher percentage of pensioners, living longer (not contributing) and having much better/more expensive healthcare than 50 years ago.
2. Healthcare tourists: the influx of immigrants (legal and illegal) has placed an additional burden on the NHS.
Notwithstanding, other issues , such as poorly paid nursing staff which curtails new recruits, and top-heavy well paid management , etc, etc

Am I the only person not bothered by breaking election pledges. The Tories made a point of breaking every manifesto pledge under Boris the Liar.
The circumstances have only changed because this government has splurged money on public sector workers without asking for efficiency in return. They failed to address the soaring benefits bill because their back benchers wouldn't agree to it. They like the Tories have thrown money at Ukraine and Palestine and other foreign aid countries.Am I the only person not bothered by breaking election pledges.
I am aware that a government has a mandate based on those promises, but if the circumstances dictate a deviation from those promises, would a government be irresponsible not to deviate?
Perhaps I am a little naive?
I' m with you I want to have a manifesto that is looked at by a judge preferably Dick Turpin ,stand and deliver, otherwise the current choice is simply lie your head off.Am I the only person not bothered by breaking election pledges.

Manifesto pledges have been broken for years but I my opinion Labour have pushed those boundaries as well as lying generally in the lead up.Am I the only person not bothered by breaking election pledges.

It'd be naive to believe any of the streams of pish any party hose out before an election. At best they're outlining a wishlist and at worst just making daft claims knowing they have no way, or intention, of seeing them though. Especially when they're seeking a second term by offering a raft of wonderful initiatives which prompt the question - then why haven't you been doing these things for the last few years?Am I the only person not bothered by breaking election pledges.
