'The Football Association has charged Crystal Palace with misconduct after supporters held a banner depicting Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis holding a gun to midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White's head.

The banner, unfurled during the 1-1 Premier League draw at Selhurst Park in August, read: "Mr Marinakis is not involved in blackmail, match-fixing, drug trafficking or corruption."

Marinakis has consistently denied any wrongdoing in relation to such allegations'

'While the banner was not specified as the reason for the charge, there are strict rules regarding messaging containing defamatory, political and offensive slogans'.

What a daft gesture to present in the first place and why didn't ground staff intervene and remove?

Yes, let's all be quiet about it...the HF made a point about the unfair nature of the situation and naturally chose the greek guy as a target. Any fine will have been worth it.

Maybe the FA should dig a little deeper in their 'Owners fit and proper' test. Any fine worth it in my opinion.

Is it reported what the fine actually was? More than happy to chip in.

TBH I thought the fact that they wrote 'not involved' was pretty clever and would help avoid any trouble. After all they aren't accusing him of anything.

Just wait till you see the knockout phase ticket prices...it will most likely be to cover the fines that the HF pick up this season for the club 🙄

In the clickbait piece i posted, it is apparently, £300k max, earlier this year Spurs were fined £150k for homophobic chanting, but got the fine reduced to £75k on appeal.

Looks like the HF can do another banner about the fat Greek without fear of retribution; his team are in court in Athens for inciting fan violence…oh dear!
Perhaps stay away from banners for a while. The last European one wasn't helpful either. I can't imagine the club being happy losing 100k. It sounds like peanuts but I'm pretty sure the women's team wouldn't mind it, for example.

The F.A are currently promoting interest in the 2nd round of their crown jewel, the oldest football competition in the world.
They're using the same words as always..."magic" and "dare to dream".
The thing is, Crystal Palace made the dream reality and proudly lifted the trophy on the 17th of May of this year.
Ever since the club have been treated like dirt from the cockroaches in Switzerland who are clearly jelous and envious of England's historic cup competition.
Did the FA, at any point, offer any public words of support and encouragement to the holders of their famous trophy?
As far as I know, they said sweet F.A. Didn't hear a squeek out of them.
And now they want to fine us?
I think we should boycott this season's competition.
Tell them to stick it.
We've got other stuff going on.

Agreed. But the club could and should have done something about it. It's not worth fighting losing battles

Oxygen of publicity.

Could have ignored or else dealt with quietly but now it will be a re-published every time the story comes up.
The fine will be peanuts to us. The more the story is in the press, the better. I’d be happy to chip in.

Hilarious that there’s an article on BBC today about Marinakis on trial in Athens accused of instigating football violence and supporting a criminal organisation.

The guy is a total scumbag. I find myself following Forest closely and wishing for their demise these days. Would be amazing if they got relegated.

I think we are all following their progress with interest.
