Palace v Bournemouth Matchday Thread

Their first goal yesterday was the third goal in recent weeks as a result of near post corners that have not been dealt with.

Who do we face in the next league game but Arsenal , who are the masters of the corner routines with impeccable deliveries and blocking techniques.

I’m less concerned about their open play, where Mitchell deals well with Saka and also in the absence of injured playmaker Odegard ,but I’d be surprised if we don’t concede again from a corner.

'On the button' kind Sir.

Fighting for 3 points right up until the final whistle. Great to see, Shame Mateta couldn't quite pull the trigger at the death.

All I could think about Mateta's misses was that we're not really paying for the Haalands or the Kanes or the Gyokores or Isaks. So Mateta is about as good as it gets for us. Unless we ever get another Wright or Bright.
I have high hopes for Nketiah now, and I really wasn't massively keen on us buying him. But I've noticed he has electric pace, a bit of passion and seems like a decent guy. When he comes on it's very useful for rushing the opposition defence and goalie. He needs to improve his decision making - which will happen. Reckon he will be very good quite soon.

Regarding the potential sending off. Bournemouth 2-0 up at the time. They might have shut up shop and would have been harder to break down for us. We will never know anyway 😅

What makes you think 3 out of them 4 are better than mateta , Kane is the bench mark , haaland rely on service and doesnt help out one not scored in weeks, and the other hasn't had a game so to speak , and they have all missed them chances

It was initially difficult for me to accept a draw, very much like Crystanbul, where Bolasie fired over with about a minute left.
But 3-3 was about right, but you have to applaud Palace's effort and determination. Sometimes you get the rewards, sometimes you don't. I don't want to start feeling entitled about results. Palace put in an excellent shift, and you have to be very happy about that 😁👍

I felt Bournemouth were tactically on top until Nketiah came on. It changed the way we attacked and he came more central. Opened up so much more space and clearly changed the game for us. Before then the Bournemouth team had us completely under control.

I've always thought CPFC were not one of Tony Cascarino's highly rated teams. His match reviews and articles in The Times often seemed negative towards us.

But in today's paper he describes the match as 'the best I have seen all season'. Blimey, he goes on to heap praise on Mateta and is glowing in his assessment of Glasner.

Nice one Tony, keep it up.

The old cliché is that there are no guarantees - even if you do pay 100 million.

I heard Wharton described as MotM on the way from the game.

Not for me.

His passing was woeful. If he had been more accurate we would not have looked 2nd best in the first half and could have killed them off early.

This is so unlike him. Hoping it was just a one off bad day.

I think atm pino starts. Wasn’t his best game but the sub changed it and bfc wasn’t prepared. From the beginning they may have nullified Eddie.
Pino has to adapt to the physicality and the pace of the PL but there is certainly a talented footballer in there.
Like Wharton he needs to add goals to his game to elevate him to the next level.
