International Call Ups

Fourteen of our squad are on international duty.

I doubt too much serious training with the few remaining playerswill take place during the break and I just hope the players called up emerge unscathed.

Munoz, Lerma, Richards, Uche, Cardines, Kamada and Benitez also have to contend with huge travelling distances.

I cannot see an upside to these international breaks at all.

This will be the second one this season with a third I think due in November.

There isn't. At all. The fans dont want them, I doubt the players want them.

On the flip side, I never appreciated (when we had very few international players) how beneficial they might be to rest up and train properly.

Last long haul for me was 5 days in New York. Took about 2 weeks after my return for my cycadian rhythm to return to normal.

Given the importance of sleep, and the physical demands of them, how do these guys cope?

Don't call him Shirley. 😆
  • Rumack: Can you fly this plane and land it?
  • Ted Striker: Surely you can't be serious.
  • Rumack: I am serious... and don't call me Shirley.
One of many great lines in Airplane. My other favourite is:
  • Dr. Rumack: "A hospital? What is it?"
  • Elaine Dickinson: "It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now."

When do the lights c'mon.

They haven't and don't call me Wanda

Assuming no injuries occur. For some of the squad it will benefit them as haven’t played much.

Hopefully as some of them are only friendlies like Columbia that Danny and Jefferson won’t play both games

Cubs do not have to release players for friendlies. USA, Columbia and Japan are all involved in friendlies only. Of course to keep the players happy Palace may well permit them to play in one match but come back in time for training next week,

I've never seen us stop a player from internationals. I was waiting for Wharton to be called up to the U21s and us release him for that - which we absolutely should not.

I don't recall players returning after just one game when called up, unless they are injured.
I don't anticipate any of our internationals returning until at least Weds/Thurs next week.
Glasner has pointed out that last week will be the only full week of training with a full squad possible leading up to Christmas.
He'll get on with it as he does, but it's not ideal.
I understand that competitive internationals have to happen, but not these meaningless friendlies.
I come from the Alex Ferguson school where the priority is the club.

Tuchel is another clown.

This squad is trolling, he considers Jordan Henderson a key player. f*** me.
