Decades ago I was a juror in coroner's court, very similar circumstances, we found death by misadventure, the relatives and friends of the deceased went berserk.
Marwaan Mohamed Huseen, the driver was quite absent minded , he forgot to gei insurance and a driving licence.
Luckily no innocent people were killed or injured

I felt sorry for the young lad at the time. He was 18 she was 17, at that age I doubt I would have checked what the local laws were. I did think her mother was wrong to leave the country and then report him.
However as you say it maybe that her mother knew he was trouble (mothers tend to). I just hope out of this sorry mess that mother and daughter are still on talking terms.

This is a fair assessment overall. I would say the genocide is debated by historians as it was more catastrophic British mismanagement and neglect and the alliance with Stalin was tactical not ideological (obviously 😏).
I do find it odd that De Valera offered condolences to the German embassy after Hitler's death.

A more balanced view of Anglo Irish history (2000 years) will show that the Irish interfered in England and Scotland almost as much as the English did in Ireland.
They say history is written by the victors but sometimes the narrative is written by the victims. I am not excusing England's conquest of Ireland just pointing out that there were plenty of Irish going the other way.

yes Eagle, you have a valid point. My reply is that Catholic ireland hates Oliver Cromwell for all the persecutions. And yet often forgets that he persecuted half of England too.
regarding your point....persecutions of Prod settlers.....there was some , but there was huge spin and lies about babies being BBQ'ed and other hyperbole. Reminds me of the Brits going to bloody War over a sailors damaged Ear.
