Labour Party politics

Sir Keir Starmer said on the news that I.D. will be required to work in the U.K. so not necessarily a need for everyone to have it.
So how does this stop people crossing the channel in dingies to get here? They would still have access to everything, so unless the county lines organisers decide to go legit it will have no effect on anybody apart from the law abiding. And imagine a hacker managing to get into the database!

It makes it less attractive as you cannot get work with Deliveroo.

But still free health care, accommodation, pocket money etc. I understand what you are saying but most of us not 'on the left' would prefer the flow from across the channel to stop, then we can work on who should stay who is already here. The people smugglers will continue to pack the dinghies in the knowledge that they can overload the system. The ID scheme is just a headline grabber, like "Stop The Boats" and "Smash The Gangs", neither of which seem to have done any good.

I am NOT suggesting that this is a panacea to all the world's problems but politics is the art of the possible and a step in the right direction.

The ID scheme should make life much easier for Brits.

To have a card where I can identify myself would cut through all the hassle and angst, identifying oneself is something you have to do I have often struggled with it as I often just don't fit in the list of options, it can actually take days.

People carry ID cards in many societies without dfficulties, losing your ID card is a really big thing so there must be safeguards.

This has been TB's hobby-horse for 20 years. I think it nearly ran one time but Labour lost the election and the Tories cancelled it.

A better week for Sir Keir he can point to something positive for a change.

😎

Is there any country that still has anything as ridiculous as the House of Lords?

If you are really a moderniser Sir Keir take down this unelected toadying racket.....

😎

At least we can go work for Uber eats, just eat and deliveroo if we don't want the ID.....maybe a barbers or a vape shop too! 😁

It stops nothing. They claim it will stop illegal working but that is the point of NI numbers. The invaders are just the excuse.
