Labour Party politics

This latest push for ID cards and a cashless society would form key elements of total Governmental control over the population. Once you have total fiscal control (with banks declaring 'suspect' transactions subject to investigation) over the population , you have , in effect, a slave workforce. ( although a proportion will always be on Benefits)
Yes, we already have a myriad of verifiable ID, such as bank cards, loyalty cards, mobile phones etc. I hope the push-back is massive. This will only impact the general population.

Criminals will just find devious ways to get around this. As will the elites.

OK, silver foil hat time here. Feel free to berate but go with my thought processess here.

1. There is clearly a concerted effort to topple Starmer from within the Labour movement.
2. Its more than possible Blair is behind it all.
3. Blair LOVES digital ID cards and has been pushing for them for decades.
4. Starmer knows he is screwed.
5. So decides to screw Blair over, just for the hell of it.
6. Out of the blue, decides to go all in for these ID cards.
7. But does so KNOWING it will whip up a storm of hysteria (push back from all sides is massive and will only increase).
8. Meaning the ID card agenda has to be put on the back burner for a long long time.
9. Starmers leaves number 10 knowing he has screwed Blair.

Tell me what I am getting wrong here?
One of your better ones. I used to agree with and like some of your older ones but they started to get a bit more unbelievable. This one sounds more likely.

Exactly. this is about controlling the legal not the illegal.

Legal migrants should be made to carry a national ID, the rest of us can prove our id very quickly if required. That then leads the illegals / criminals. They don't carry id now and I doubt they will so asking the whole population to pay a fortune to run this scheme is a waste of our taxpayer money.

Of course the government loves it not only can they control us but it will create loads of civil service jobs to implement and run.

As for employers and landlords as someone said the people who who rent or employ illegal;s are not duped they know exactly what they are doing so that behaviour will not change. As for the honest employers if we insist all legal migrants have an id it will make their life easier.

No need for most of us to have one.

NB
It just occurred to me one big advantage (for the government) of digital id's, over a card, is they are on your phone and they have your details. So they know where you are at any time, or at least your phone.

It will do nothing to reduce crime of the illegal economy as these people aren't on the radar anyway.

Having the requirement of driving licences and insurance doesn't stop huge numbers of people driving without either

Topic swing. I don't like this name calling derisory moniker "Rachel from Accounts". It's designed to label her as an airhead and incompetent, I don't think she is. And like the vast majority, we're not macro accountants either, anyone thinking that the national debt is a credit card bill definitely isn't. I also think she's in a very difficult position which is getting tougher and tougher with each subsequent Chancellor who are hamstrung into doing something at our expense or doing nothing, each causing the UK position to get worse over time.

Here's a nice video from a channel I watch some videos from explaining a bit more about what is coming, but honestly, I blame the billionaires.

If Ms Reeves weren't incompetent she wouldn't have loaded £25billion of extra costs on to business at a time when her party was claiming to prioritise economic growth. As for her derisory nickname, you must know that it sprang up as a reaction to the revelation that her spell in the Bank of England, included in her CV, was in a very junior position, of little or no relevance to the Treasury.

Oh stop it. Business taxes has been slashed over the past decades whilst they get ever more subsidy. The huge hole needs filling, it's either off of you, employers or billionaires - who's it going to be?

Shocking that she had a junior position when she was younger, assume you went straight from school into a Managing Director role.

In the past year there was a lot of talk about a £22 bn black hole which the government inherited which has now become a £50 bn black hole but seems not to be as disastrous as the lower figure.
What happened to the black hole created by Covid which was estimated as being as high as £400 bn?

You're right, she wasn't bright enough for accounts, she was in complaints, irony abounds

The NHS after years of Tory underfunding needed a cash injection, hopefully you won't need to use their serices.Looking at today's opinion poll the disappearing tories are the ones that are in dire need of resusitation and will not get anywhere near formimg a government for a very long time if at all. They are not hiding in Argentina they are defecting in droves to Reform the one club golfer party. What is your second policy Nigel.

If you think she is fit for purpose that's of course your perogative

It got added to the national debt.

And much push for the Long-term unemployed to ever get a proper taxpaying job ? All citizens are equal ? but some are more equal than others.

From last year but very worrying who’s running the country

Watching Starmer deliver his 'nothing to see here' speech was darkly disturbing. He even got in a dog whistle sentence implying that his main political opponents were like fascists of the past.

The sooner we rid ourselves of this government, the better. Leftist loons with too big a majority.

And now they are using people's fear of illegal immigration to introduce ID cards.
Anyone with half a brain knows that it will have next to no effect on the black economy.

This is a sinister government that is having its strings pulled by that corporate puppet Tony Blair.
