Guehi to Liverpool Jan?

Could lead to a renewed bid from Liverpool in the January window? Would be good if we got at least something for him before he’s out of contract in the summer. This will strengthen our already weakened negotiating position somewhat if a bid does come in.

Yeah let's play their game, the way they ruthlessly take advantage.

MASSIVE fee or say "nah, Madrid can have him" 😎

(This should really be in the Guehi thread though, not a new thread)

Well they demanded £8.4m for Trent Alexander Arnold a month before he became a free transfer, just so Madrid could take him to the Club World Cup.

On that basis, and on how desperate they might need a defender by then, I would say £35-40m seems about right.

And that's assuming we sign a replacement first.

If we are doing really well and Glasner feels we cannot replace him in January £25m means nothing to us. I say hold him till the summer.
This was what he wanted anyway, the freedom to choose his own future. Contrary to media rubbish Liverpool was never his 'dream move'. He may decide to join them. That doesn't mean he is desperate to do so and hates Palace for blocking his move there. That simply isn't true.
Plus from the players point of view if he is having a great season at Palace and the team is doing well he'd be foolish to risk his England place by jumping ship mid season in a World Cup year

What? £60m

Now that Leoni has got a confirmed ACL, they have 4 recognised CB's with 3 others being able to 'fill-in' if needed. Nah, they'll be fine, Marc can stay with us in World Cup year. Beware of all the 'pantwetters' that were about during the summer window, they'll be back(& so will clickbait & lots of it).

Well Konate looks rubbish

He might be deluding himself that Real Madrid will want him if he performs like that - especially when they can get a much better player on a free instead

Reckon Konate will be going back to Liverpool with his tail between his legs begging for a new contract after January once his Spanish dreams evaporate

Meanwhile Van Dijk is getting on - 35 in the summer - and the miles on the clock are starting to show

They should really have paid Palace £50m early in the summer and they could have avoided this mess rather than go for the "we've got you over a barrel" negotiation on deadline day

I think he will sign a pre contract with a top European club in January - maybe Madrid, PSG or Bayern.

He will then have a transfer regardless.

Some people seem to have forgotten already the absolute st*te that these clickbait sites peddle. I had a boss who lived by the motto ‘accept nothing, believe no one, check everything’ - not such a bad motto.

I still think it was more parish trying to sell him to Liverpool.

For the sake of 10-20 mill in Jan we may aswell keep Marc now and maybe win a European trophy we may never get another chance.

We have the lightning in the bottle this season. We can go back to Dyche / Hodgson types to steady the ship and no transfers next season when Ollie goes 😅

so many balls in the air. Look at Wirz so far. Wonder how he feels tonight? Moving is not always a good decision. For Guehi or Glasner.
Both top of the pile athe moment. Moving might be a big mistake.

I do think Liverpool are now desperate and as such will pay around £20m for Guehi in January. They’ll need him if they are serious about winning the big trophies. Hopefully Parish can squeeze an extra £5m.

Providing we have another quality CB lined up, I think we should take it. By then, Canvot will hopefully have improved with some game time and Riad might be fit too.

Guehi is top class, but I always feel a CB is the easiest position to replace.

I watched the game last night. Gala obviously took head of our performance as it was a re-run of Saturday. And just like us if they had a decent finisher it would have been very comfortable for them.

Slott must be doing his nut about his defence.

I think we are forgetting Riad, due back this month and is top class, if he is eased back he is the replacement for Guehi, if he can regain the form he showed in la Liga, making sure he is 100% when Guehi Leaves.

Slott's not a good manager . Won the league last season with Clipperty's team and with that slowly getting broken up he hasn't got a clue how to get the best out of whats left and his very expensive replacements .
They had been getting away with it until they came up against us ,late goals were papering over very average performances . As you say the defence is all over the place and the days of Van Dijk getting them out of trouble have come to an end .

They need some good defenders for sure but getting Marc Guehi may have passed them by . They will now have competition for his signature from Europes elite clubs and it will cost them a lot more than they were offering in the summer .
