Biden administration - "we admit to censorship"

Looney libs can't get it into their heads 🤣 instead they are downing parecetemol 🙄

Gosh! If it's that harsh a punishment you'd think that the drivers of the 300,000 uninsured vehicles driving each day on our roads, and the 1 million drivers caught each year, would tow the line. Perhaps they don't know that they need insurance...
In June a 20-year uninsured driver caused a pile up on the A1, injuring 7 pursuing police officers and damaging 5 police cars. Despite being given an interim ban, he was again driving uninsured immediately after the incident. He received a sentence of 14 months in a young offenders establishment...meanwhile, 31 months dished out to Lucy Connelly for a tweet.
I try not to comment on cases that only the Judge involved has the full facts for.

Comparing sentences for different offences is a pointless exercise. Each is determined to achieve a different result in different circumstances.

All I did was point out the truth. That the options for punishing those who drive without insurance are very much more than you suggested. How and when they apply will vary.

I suppose that’s progress, albeit small.

At least they are now “libs” and not the ridiculous “lefties”.

Being honest and accepting that some restrictions are necessary in the public interest is not to admit to anything. You admit a wrong. You state a truth.

Is it any more ridiculous than the need to point out Tommy Robinson is not his real name? No one ever felt the same need to call Pol Pot, Stalin or Martin Luther King by their real names.

Except that Lucy Connelly probably didn’t realise that she was committing a crime and was basically venting anger.
The 20 year old driver knew he was breaking the law when he caused the accident, and knew he was breaking the law when he drove without insurance the following day. He probably knew he was breaking the law previously as he had 8 points on his provisional licence already. So, I will repeat my claim that laws exist to control the law abiding, not the criminal fraternity as somebody knowingly committing numerous crimes gets a far lesser sentence than a person posting a tweet in frustration and anger.

Yes it is.

Being liberal and being on the left are not the same. Stephen Yaxley Lennon and Tommy Robinson are. As were the others you mentioned who adopted other names but they did it for what seem understandable reasons. I might though have treated them the same way, with the exception of MLK.

OK. Showing more respect to a dictator responsible for at least 6 million deaths than someone who's made some comments with which you disagree is a very reasonable response.

If she didn’t she ought to have done. Ignorance of the law being no defence. What she posted was appalling and called for others to break the law in ways that could have resulted in deaths.

One terrible crime by a 20 year old idiot proves nothing at all. It just confirms there are idiots.

I repeat, what the appropriate sentence is in any circumstances can only be determined by the Judge who has all the facts and can decide what the correct balance has to be between punishment, public protection, rehabilitation and deterrence of others.

As I said I may well have treated him the same but there’s no opportunity or point now.

YL changed his to that of a hooligan he admired to create the image of a tough guy. Double barrelled surnames carrying the wrong image. Vanity? Narcissism?

The 20 year old caused serious damage to 5 police cars and injuries to 7 police employees. He knowingly committed those crimes and others; they are directly attributable to him.
What proof is their that Lucy Connelly’s words (not actions) can be directly attributed to injuries and damaging of property?

Double barrelled names these days seldom mean anything other than that someone's parents split up.
Why should who he took the name from matter and the reason given is pure speculation.

Says the motor offender who claims innocence and the judge was wrong

Incitement is an action! It’s not just an opinion. The right frequently fail to understand this.

20 year olds behaving like dangerous idiots need to be both punished and re-educated. Judges listen to the reports and decide how to do that.

People who incite violence that could kill deserve to be punished but the punishment also needs to deter. Judges will decide that too.

No incitement here.

So, he got a 14 month sentence for damaging 5 police vehicles and causing injury to 7 police employees through dangerous driving?

Not according to the judge in the Ricky Jones case.
