Censorship and Social Media

I want many things!

It doesn’t mean I feel entitled to get them illegally.

You want to live somewhere where there aren’t laws? Buy your own island and declare independence. Watch out for pirates because I’m not coming to protect you.
Croydon is pretty close tbh.

What nonsense. The law abiding have no fear of the laws. They are abiding by them. Criminals who ignore them do fear them, because when they get caught they get punished.

Your solution presumably would be to have no laws. In that way there would be no criminals so no one needs to worry and those with the biggest sticks will prosper.
I did ask you previously whether you drove, have car insurance and how much it is; it would illustrate my point if I knew the answer.

Relax I just wanted a coffee not a coup!

Even if those laws mean you can sit down without a mask but have to wear one to stand up in a restaurant.

I don’t recall being asked but have no problem answering, even if I cannot anticipate how you will try to make your “point”.

I drive a fully electric BYD Atto 3 which I bought new this year, having had a petrol Golf for 10 years. Of course it’s insured, comprehensive at around £700 pa.

Google to reinstate banned YouTube accounts censored for political speech

Google admits sleepy Joe's administration censored political speech.
That’s misinformation from Fox News!

They weren’t removed because of the censorship of political speech!

They were censored for spreading dangerous misinformation about the need to combat the Covid pandemic.

Quite right too. Now it’s over they can be safely allowed to post again. Although with these people the chances of them doing something as stupid again is pretty high.

Still censorship though. God forbid anyone has an opinion which conflicts with the official line.

Pretty much and it's the same hypocrisy. Jimmy Kimmel was suspended for spreading dangerous misinformation and apparently that "wasn't right" 🤷🏻‍♂️ I think that's enough from corny for a while for me now. 🤣

Thank you. The law says you have to have insurance if you use a car on a public road, so you obey. The criminal thinks, why should I pay £700 to drive. The maximum fine is £300, so even if caught, they have ‘saved’ some money. You are conditioned by the law to accept it, the criminal mind is not. Hence why I said the law is there to control the majority of the population. You can argue that points on licences is a further penalty, but if you have no license to start with, where’s the punishment….

Just having an opinion doesn’t get you censored. It’s when an opinion has a consequence that is deemed as against the public good that might.

There isn’t, and never has been, an unfettered absolute right to say whatever you like. The law of defamation proves that.

We ask governments to organise things on our behalf and to determine what is the public good. Whether we agree, or disagree, we must still follow.

That's the justification of repressive regimes everywhere.

He wasn’t. He was suspended because of pressure from the Trump administration and fear in his employer.

What he said was not the least “dangerous”. It was fair, and actually true. That it upset some was all to the good. Getting them to take a look at themselves was needed.

Not because of a complaint from the FCC then.
