Is sacked as his infatuation / love of convicted pedo becomes public, the same one he brokered a deal with after the conviction.

What kind of pure incompetence would appoint such a slime bag to such an imporftant position.

" He was was properly vetted " says the imbecile who made the decision

I always thought that there was something sinister about the guy, a feeling that was mirrored by Rory Bremner who did an impersonation of him a long time ago, saying something akin to Mandy meeting somebody and remarking: "How are you after your accident? Oh, sorry, that's next week..."

I'm sure he came recommended by that other scumbag Blair.

Worse than the effectiveness / ineffectiveness of any due diligence performed is Starmer's judgement.

I find it hard to believe that he knew nothing about Mandlesons history with Epstein. But even if he only knew some of it, that should have been enough to have abandoned any thoughts of appointing him.

Keir - back you on Wednesday, sack you on Thursday Starmer.

Fairly standard political behaviour.

Starmer is not of the required standard to be PM, but I hope he stays. He is the best gift Reform could have.

Judged by the company you keep.

A very creepy bloke. Glad he's got his comeuppance and hope he now disappears from public life forever. The grotesque, simpering and obviously false apologies he came out with in that interview at The Sun are beyond awful.

I'm waiting now to see Starmer put Lammy in the role.

Unsurprisingly the grandson of Herbert Morrison the late GLC leader, later deputy leader etc. A very sneaky politician who was not greatly trusted by the mass of the labour Party, not exactly a team player.

He's already packed his cricket bat and is practicing throwing a boomerang.

Starmer is not in a position to judge anyone's morals is he? Obviously compromised, the injunction only reinforces that.
All the media need to do is discuss the super injunction at all and he's gone.

Normally a super injunction leaks over time, ussually abroad or in the commons this has been running for ages and so far diddly squat, so the only conclusion that i can reach is it is absolute bollos.

If there was a juicy scandal Farage would be up on his hind legs shouting to the rooftops with commons protection.
I suppose it could be something that could backfire on you if you did discuss.
First of all obviously legal. As in injunction.
But more so, could you get cancelled for mentioning it? Like something personal that isn't political?
I wouldn't bother revealing anything about Starmer's private situation if it's something he needs to choose about revealing or not - and not political or relevant to his job as such.

Nobody seems to have mentioned yet that this creep was twice forced to resign from the government for corruption. Leaving aside his choice of boyfriend, I would have thought that that fact alone would have rendered him unfit for high office in the judgment of anyone who believed in the importance of integrity in public life.

As others have said what on earth was Starmer thinking? What qualities does he posses that made Starmer over look his obvious flaws? Does he have the negatives?

The Ambassador's role is really to be the messenger boy for his government so most senior civil servants could do the job. With communication technology I rather think the role has diminished from say pre war. After all why talk to the monkey when you can speak to the organ grinder.

Labour are trying to say the yanks loved him and he has been doing a great job on trade. I rather doubt that, the donkey work is done by Foreign Office staff. I can't see Mandy getting familiar with the minutia of UK versus US farming.

The new guy is a career civil servant, he's probably wondering why he didn't get the job in the first place.

Mandelson was less harm 3,000 miles away.
