Reform

He always has been an embarrassment of a politician, a relic of all our yesterdays which much of the world see as the foundation stones of today’s problems.

If he went to Reform and became any kind of spokesperson for them it would do our international reputation no good at all.
He’s articulate; something that is lacking with the modern intake. I find him refreshing, and as for his ilk being the foundation of today’s problems, no, today’s problems are being caused by today’s politicians and those previously that leant away from JRM’s view.

Nadine Dorries: a fine import for Reform. Haha! Some careerist, that one.

At the end of their Conference, Andrea Jenkyns led the singing of the National Anthem with "God Save the Queen" instead of "God save the King"
They cannot even get the National Anthem right yet try to convince the electorate that they can run the country.
😳😳😳

Just pointing out the lack of policy on ani non immigration issue , the next election will prove my point the electorate will not touch reform with a barge pole.
Apropos Reform's polices, there was a series of U-turns during its Conference. Farage’s claim that he would "stop the boats within two weeks of taking office" was hastily rephrased to mean within two weeks of legislation, which of course is an entirely different proposition. Richard Tice, the deputy leader and would-be Chancellor, hinted that their £90 billion tax-cutting plan may not be viable after all. And on education there was nothing, no speech, no focused panel.
Furthermore it has all gone rather silent on the 'No tax for those earning under £20K'.

Were you there ? Have you joined the mass exodus? I'm sure they will find a land without Johnie Foreigner messing it up.

Absolutely NOT present.

I am advised Reform handed its main stage to a gentleman who has made his name peddling conspiracy theories. He has suggested that Covid vaccines were linked to cancer in the Royal Family.Reform’s chairman, David Bull, who believes in ghosts, introduced him warmly, telling delegates that himself and the gentleman had written Reform’s health policy. More theatre of delusions than theatre of dreams.

Yeah, what we should do is vote for the Tories......

What the Tories did to this county is disgusting.....they brought in woke, called themselves social liberals....they promoted leftists to head institutions....they lied about everything in manifestos. Immigration went up and up. They brought in around a million immigrants a year....all against what they were elected to do... But you'd vote for them forever.

Most of the people on the politics forum don't agree with what the Tories did with covid and here you are talking about conspiracy theories when the Tory government censored people saying the virus came from a lab!

They literally operated 'nudge' units to gaslight the general public.

Spend wartime amounts of money on reducing the economy over a virus with less than a 2 percent kill rate, when the consequences were little different to Sweden who didn't do that......Massive financial burden for nothing.....all stacked onto us now and future generations.

I'm not a fan of Reform because they are too left wing.....but the Tories....that's beyond a joke.

You'd vote blue because it's your identity....the country went to the dogs under them but you're too stuck in your ways to change.

They lost all those red wall votes....they were given a golden, once in a lifetime opportunity and threw it away.

With respect, I do NOT accept some of the accusations, some of which I deemed farcical, but of course you are entitled to your opinion.

I accept the Conservatives made mistakes, we have to learn from our mistakes and regain the trust of the electorate but the 'Renewal Programme' is well under way. We are a serious party of long-standing Reform are all PR, soundbites and populist hogwash.

The title of this thread is 'Reform' and I am more than content to aim my fire at them.

Mistakes!!!

Are you so nicely tucked away that what's happening in the country doesn't affect you?

You say what what I stated was farcical...ok, like what? Because I have receipts for what I said. What the Tories did and said is recorded.

Regardless, criticism of Reform is fine....I have my own....but when it's done by someone who seemingly would vote blue regardless of anything they did it can be countered with its own criticism.

Social conservatives have a right to call out this idea that the Tories deserve even anything that resembles trust.

It doesn't matter anyway, their base elected Badenoch (who while has laudable qualities) isn't a leader.....but the base are so isolated and stuck in their ways that they are even voting themselves out of power.

They seemingly can't accept what they have done to the party.....It wasn't Reform, it was them and they haven't changed anything like enough...sacked nobody.

Reform have been around for five minutes yet have already displaced the Tories and yet you want to moan about some ex Tory getting the sex of the Monarch wrong.

the Boris loving MP who brought in the online safety bill that Reform has been whinging about ever since based on 'free speech'.

One of the more valid criticisms that many in Reform have complained about.

But it's clear what Farage is looking to do.

He's looking to remake Reform as the Tory party.....but with him as the leader.

If the Tories had been bright....or in reality hadn't have the massive egos then they would have found some way to give Farage the leadership.

But that ship sailed for them.

With respect, I also highlighted Reform's ability to back-track on announcements.
I could have added that energy policy fell apart after they announced it.

In terms of our 'Base' we have made significant contributions to the 'Policy Renewal Programme' which is on-going. Experts amongst our supporters in various fields have been called to provide their esteemed input. We recognise the need for intellectual depth in our policies not a set of hastily assembled knee-jerk reactions and outlandish populist pledges.

Being refreshed by JRM must be like being in a permanent time warp of life 100 years ago. It has its attractions but it had many unattractive aspects too but most of all it’s not relevant to the world today. Dreaming of yesterday doesn’t prepare for what we face today or tomorrow.

Farage has consistently stated he wants to see the 'Death' of the Conservative Party.
Jacob Rees-Mogg has a desire for the 'Right' to unite.

It's gone.

But you can't let go.

In terms of the last government there are some very fair grievances.Losing a sense of what the party stands for, the ability to deliver on a promise, not being ‘Conservatives’, the habit even revelry in ‘blue on blue’ infighting. These are all issues us Conservatives have kept firmly in mind and accepted.

Learning from past mistakes is part of the recovery process.
