Can anyone please help me identify all of the players in the attached photo? I'm fine with Murphy, Fenwick, Fry and Gilbert in the back row. Likewise Hilaire and Nicholas in the front row. Maybe Steve Mackenzie is second from the left in the front row? And I think Steve Lovell is next to Nicholas on the right of the front row? I expect the others include Chris Sparks, Kevin Dare, Les Carter and Neil Banfield, but I don't know which players they are. There's one other outfield player - maybe Steve Hockham or Steve Leahy? I do know that Sansom, Walsh and Smillie were too old to be eligible for that tournament.

I don't know the name of the other keeper.

And I don't know the name of the coach on the right of the picture.

Many thanks if anyone can identify some of these guys.

I think the other keeper might be Peter Caswell, you're right with Steve Lovell, the chap withe the aphro and chain might be Terry Boyle b4 he grew a Magnum tache, but I could well be wrong, I think Boyle was a bit taller.

Thanks for replying. I've been asking elsewhere too, and we reckon that the second keeper is Bobby Horn. I think he's the son of Dave Horn, who was one of the coaching staff, and Bobby went on to play for Barnsley in the 1980s. The only thing I know about Peter Caswell is that he played in the vital match at Wrexham in May 1977, so I suspect he was too old for the Youth Team in 1977/78.

EDIT
Yup, Caswell was born in January 1957, so definitely too old for the 1977/78 Youth Team. Anyway, here's the lineup that we arrived at in the photo.

Back row: John Cartwright, Kevin Dare, Jerry Murphy, Terry Fenwick, David Fry,
Bobby Horn, Chris Sparks, Billy Gilbert, Steve Leahy and Ian Dargie

Front row: Tony Paul, Steve Mackenzie, Les Carter, Vince Hilaire, Peter Nicholas
and Steve Lovell

Dave Horn's title back then was 'trainer', now they're called physios.

Strangely I remember Stephen Leahy’s first team debut, his first touch was to stand on the ball and fall arse over bollock right in front of us, the poor bugger, not what you want to do on your debut. I think he only played a couple of times in the end

Leahy never played many games for us and I believe he left us and proceeded to play at Non-League level.
