Worst Premier League XI

In identifying pony players there is often a direct correlation to cost. I think that's partly because we watch their performances knowing how much money has been wasted, but also partly because a manager is likely to persevere with the player if decent money has been spent. If a player is crap and cheap then he just doesn't get picked. Crap and expensive, you'll get another chance!

Max Meyer must be the captain of this shite XI, at least from the modern era players. Not easy for a free transfer to be a collosal waste of money, but he managed it.

Mandanda
Sinnott
Brolin
Meyer
Adebayor

That's a pretty good five a side team of stinkers, anyway. More names will come to me, probably in a cold sweat in the dead of night.

Steve Mandanda
Nathan Ferguson
Mariappa
Martin Kelly
Dean Moxey
Tom Ince
Jordon Mutch
Barry Bannan
Bakary Sako
Aaron Wilbraham
Fraizer Campbell

kept it to this current "stint" in the Premier League otherwise it would have been too easy

Hennessy wasn't the best, certainly, but Kevin Miller was surely worse. A lot of the players panic-bought after the 96/97 and 03/04 promotions deserve a place, too, Brolin being a prime example.

OK, when I said Premier League era I didn't mean 1991, I meant 2013

GK: Wayne Hennessey

Manager: Neil Warnock

Since we got promoted and with a minimum of 10 league appearances, which filters out many of the absolute worst players like Bamford, Campana etc.

Obviously some of these seem extremely harsh, like Puncheon and Kelly, but it's mainly as most of the players in these positions have been strong for us or haven't played often enough to qualify.

Good one. Did Ahamada play under 10 games? He was fookin terrible.

Marco Gabbiadini, as a replacement for Wrighty was one of our worst moments and we spent £1.8m for him, not a lot less than we got from the Arse. The guy could score goals but not in our system at the time. But, I think that was during our last season in Div 1 not the Prem.

Yup. Gabbiadonkey is a decent shout anyway.

Jordon Mutch! oh and that lump Sanogo on loan from the Arse.
Mutch was a big disappointment as he had arguably been Cardiff's best player the year before he joined. I wonder if they asked Zaha what he thought of him as they had played together in that season
More recently 10 million spunked on Ahamada who did did not start a single league game and Franca(who is on course to prove evn worse) are good options

I think that is a bit tough on Bannon. Another lightweight midfielder like Pino, Meyer, Campana, Williams but he went on to have a great career with Wednesday - not that that is relevant to the thread. He did score as many league goals as Wharton. Kamada and Hughes combined
