World's most famous landmarks: How many have you been to?

A few years ago, my dear wife and I treated ourself to a cruise and one of the stops was Piraeus, the port of Athens.
I suggested a visit to the 'Acropolis' and my wife's reaction was that she had no desire to see a load of old ruins !
We did venture into the centre of Athens and the bus journey took us past the home ground of Olympiakos.

did she have the shish kebabs?

No recollection of what my dear wife consumed.
However I do recall an incident in a restaurant in the Plaka district of Athens, whereby a waiter carrying culinary delights to another table tripped and whilst he didn't fall to the ground, the gravy splashed on to my wife !
A man spilled his gravy on to your wife whilst you watched. Oh dear.

I have not ventured into Sydney Opera House but my dear wife and I have stood at the bottom of the steps.
On our last visit there, a herd of tourists from East Asia/South-East Asia populated the area in which we were situated. The colour coordination of their garments left a lot to be desired. My mouth engaged in gaping akin to a salmon's gill.

if you remember Cissy and Ada one of them 'had the shish kebabs' as soon as as she gott off the plane so was never off 'the acropolis' as a result. Now how's this for a tourist landmark hattrick - the moral of this story: always read the small print in your tourist info. Visited the Topkapi Palace, Istanbul, 2004 on a Tuesday- it's closed on Tuesdays. Visited the Uffizzi Gallery Florence, 2005 on a Monday - it's closed on Mondays. Visited the Cistine Chapel, Rome, 2017 on a Sunday just to make sure, it's a chapel the one day it's got to be open is a Sunday I thought - oh no it isn't - it's closed on Sundays. I may miss the Uffizzi but I still hanker for the other two. Could someone please tell me which days of the week the Taj Mahal, Machupichu and Sydney Opera House are shut?😕

I went to Russia mainly to view the French Impressionist art gallery at the Hermitage. We only had one day there, when we arrived were were told that Putin had closed it as he was in town and wanted to hold a meeting there.

I've been to the Uffizzi it's a lovely gallery well worth the trouble but you need to book online in advance, same with the Sistine chapel. I'm off to Maccu Picchu in April.

In most countries Monday's seem to be the day the attractions close.

Oh well.

6, not counting the UK, but I wouldn't go to 12 of those if you paid me.

Got a couple of tours of Europe planned so will do a few more at some point.
