I thought the standard of play was quite poor for a world championship final.

There were good matches throughout the tournament but you are perhaps correct that it wasn't the highest standard overall. Some players looked overdone, some underdone. The winner looked about right in that respect. He seems good but he's still not Ronnie O'Sullivan or Stephen Henry in their heyday. Which we have perhaps been privileged to witness.
I think we will start seeing Chinese domination of snooker soon enough. So in that vein, it was nice to see Ronnie, Higgins and Williams all get quite far. I can't imagine much more from them, but they're also hard to write off.
