Since the round of 32, of the 29 games played so far, I predicted correctly for 26 of them.

No great shakes. This tournament has largely gone to plot. I'm no octopus.

Last night I got it wrong.

And I protest at the suggestion France were poor. Spain were amazing and made France look average. If they play like that in the Final they will earn their second star, whoever wins tonight.

Tonight is likely to be spicy. Our "pirate" fans massively outnumbered, the Malvinas thing, Messi's favourite ref, shameless FIFA bias, mediocre defences, brilliant attacks.

The 3 main AI platforms have gone: 2-1. 1-2 and 1-1 (Eng. pens).

I think it is going to be 4-3 Eng. with both teams limping exhausted over the 120 min AET line with only 9 players each.

I thought Spain to win the tournamernt as they are so good technically, particulsrly defensively.

Not sure now, if you can you take one or two of the few chances you will get, they are beatable.

In good positions at set pieces, Mbappe and Dembele sent the ball well over the bar.

Gordon and Saka are pretty well guaranteed to try it on. I wish players got a red card for simulation in the penalty area

I think France have been over-hyped. They hadn't really played anyone half decent until last night. Keep Mbappe and Olise quiet and they're very beatable as we saw last night.

I really think that pen last night was soft. Yamal was turning away and lifting his legs up well before there was contact. I don't see that as much different from the 'striker initiated contact' penalty shouts that weren't given in this tournament. It would have been a coming together of players, nothing more.

Sorry I meant the penalty itself. No tarty run up just up and smack.
